Born July 1968 Roger has studied and played music since he was a small child now a tenor sax player Roger originally started his musical life on the piano then moved to Hammond organ & keyboards around the age of 10, Later taking various examinations and gigging as a solo performer, as well as playing on regional radio shows and even a couple of TV talent programs.
Roger moved to sax in 2000 following a serious car accident that left him with serious injuries including sever damage to his hands and wrists therefore stopping his keyboard playing over night, Roger was determined not to give up music so while spending 12 months recovering from the accident started to teach himself the alto sax.
In 2004 he attended his first jazz jam night playing tenor sax and after a nervous first jazz performance attended jam nights on a regular basis it was at one of these sessions he decided to form his own band, he now runs a busy 9 piece Jazz/Funk band called The Latin Funktion, you can visit there website and MySpace www.thelatinfunktion.co.uk www.myspace.com/thelatinfunktion
He has recently played with singer Noel Mckoy as well a various Kent & London based Musicians, He can often be seen in top venues including recently Pizza Express, and has been mentored by top UK sax player Dave O’Higgins www.daveohiggins.com
Roger is a keen fan of jazz, funk and latin but is happy to slot into any genre of music from pop to classical and is also available between his band schedules to book as a dep.
