The duo Yobi y Nova is made up by two youngsters that share a passion for music. Cesar A. Fermin Jr. better known as Yovi, was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 20, 1987, he was raised in the Dominican Republic. From a very young age, Yobi felt love for music and nowadays is thankful for artists such as Vico C, Eddie Dee and Tempo whom most inspired him. In August of 2000 he moved back to the United States to continue his education. Kwame Addo-Donkoh Ortega-Rivera better known as Nova, was born on July 1st 1989 in Queens, NY. At the young age of 2 he moved to the Dominican Republic only to return to the United States at the age of 5 with his mother and younger brother. Spending a lot of time around his older brother who had already been living in Queens, Nova became very interested in hip hop music; reggaeton was also very popular around the house. Being inspired by rappers such as Busta Rymes, Daddy Yankee, Vico C and many others, Nova began to write little raps of his own just to play around at the age of 11. Around the age of 15 he began to get more serious about it and begged his mother to buy him a notebook, she agreed so he began to write almost every night, sometimes even in school. In 2004 Yobi in conjunction with a group of friends forms a group called “Illuminatiâ€, a couple of days later Nova joins the group. Some time passes by and the group records their first demo. Things didn’t work out so the group separates but Yobi and Nova decided they want to continue pursuing their dream and so they form the duo of “YobiNova.†Yobi set up a studio in the basement of his house and they began to record almost every night throughout the summer. Using beats of songs of artists such as Wisin y Yandel, Julio Voltio and Don Omar they record their first single called “El Palo.†A couple of months later Yobi and Nova met Luis Llanos who agreed to help continue their careers and became their manager. Later in 2007 they met Gerson Pena, CEO of Exoticoproductions.com whome together with Luis Llanos are both managing the group in an effort to take them to the next level. Since then YobiNova have been exploding quickly around the East Coast having participated in shows with famous reggaeton singer Hector El Father, Tony Dize and also Franco El Gorila. They are still on their rise to the top, hoping to reach their goal of becoming famous and living out their dream.
