Philly's Best Kept Secret is no longer a secret. CurlyLocks has captured the Caribbean community in the City of Brotherly Love and New York, as well as in Jamaica. First receiving the 2004/2005-carnival expo award for 1reggae DJ in Philadelphia, as well as the former microphone hype man for FederationSound. His voice is so loved by people, that after doing a voice over reel as a favor for his late friend Disco D and Expansion Team, he received "callbacks" to do television commercial voice over ads for numerous company giants, from Sprite Remix Aruba jam and Coca Cola to Best Buy and quickly became a member of the "Screen and Actors Guild" (Sag). With 21 years in the industry, CurlyLocks started off as a rapper and DJ in Philadelphia and went by the name Grand D. He and his old rap partner Robert Wallace also known as E.S.T would dominate the hallways of Olney High School during lunch time. He then joined a Soundsystem known as AstroFunk and packed parties with greats such as, Jazzy Jeff, Fresh Prince, EST, Dj Cash Money, the Beastie Boys, Salt-N-Pepper, Eric B and Rakim, Slick Rick, Ultra Magnetic MC's, KRS One and many more. On the reggae scene he has traveled to the Caribbean countless times thru out his career and worked along side reggae legends such as Beres Hammond, Luciano, Bounty Killer, T.O.K, Vybz Kartel, Capleton and more. He was one of the Djs responsible for jump starting Sean Paul,Vybz Kartel and Da'ville's musical career to the level of stardom with the exclusive mix cd's he would help work on with those artist. He has held some of the most desired reggae nights in Philadelphia, with weekly residency at Filo's, Genesis & Omni night clubs, to hyping up shows and concerts at Cavanaugh's (formerly Katmandu), Electric Factory, Kahunaville, The Trocadero and more. CurlyLocks delivers the sweetest Caribbean as well as hip-hop and R&B sounds to a packed house. CurlyLocks was also one part of the group Federation Sound, which was comprised of 7 distinguished members: Kenny Meez, Max Glazer(Rihanna and Baby Chams Dj), Disco D, Alric & Boyd of Fame fm in Jamaica and Cipha Sound of Hot97fm in New York. Collectively this incredible crew was driving force that began to bridge the gap between Caribbean culture and America. Their style of sound reverberated all over the globe, with a monthly residency at Jamaica's hottest night spot, club Quad. They'd travel the world dropping the craziest dancehall, reggae and hip-hop reggae remixes. Having been responsible for countless productions and remixes such as Track 10, on 50 cents Massacre album entitled "Ski Mask Way", "Crazy In Love" remix featuring Jay-Z, Beyonce & Baby Cham, "Yeah" remix with Usher & Baby Cham, "Move Your Body" remix with Nina Sky & Vybz Kartel, as well as the Grammy nominated Frontin remix featuring Jayz, Pharell, Vybz Kartel and Wayne Marshall on Def Jamaica/Def Jam and many more. They also recieved write-ups in magazines such as Rolling Stone, Fader Magazine, Mtv.com to mention a few. While still friends and in contact with FederationSound, CurlyLocks has moved on to now take on new adventures and challenges in the world of music and music production.
