About Me

www.darkhorserecording.com
Located five miles west of Franklin and 15 miles south of Nashville, the Dark Horse estate is nestled in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee. Beautiful sunsets and lush, mystic landscapes make this small corner of the globe a true destination to be seen and experienced.
THE LODGE
The Lodge is the largest of the four studios with a grand control room boasting tall windows with a countryside view and a 33 foot cathedral ceiling. The lodge was designed to cater to the most demanding of recording sessions while providing an exquisite environment. For mixing, don't be misled by the high ceilings and many windows; this is an acoustically correct listening environment, perfect for even the most intimate of sessions.
Tracking sessions of all sizes can be comfortably accommodated in The Lodge. Ample room allows players to be stationed in the control room itself, giving closer proximity to the production staff. If isolation is desired, many configurations are available. A large tracking room exists to the immediate right of the control room. A Yamaha C7 grand piano sits in another spacious iso room. Three more rooms are directly available, and guitar and bass amplifiers are often isolated on the lower level, freeing up all other spaces on the main floor for players or vocalists.
The Lodge also features a large gourmet kitchen, an upstairs lounge with gorgeous views, and a downstairs lounge / media room with an HD video projector and an 8 foot screen to view DVDs, watch television, or play video games.
THE CABIN
The Cabin Studio is well suited for tracking, overdubs, and / or mixing. Housed in a separate building, The Cabin has its own driveway and entrance ensuring total privacy. It is connected to the main facility by a 300 foot covered walkway.
This studio features a Yamaha C7 Midi Grand piano and five separate recording rooms, making it ideal for tracking. Bands often record here for the extraordinary drum sound produced by the stone wall and high ceilings. The intimate control room makes The Cabin a top choice destination for many mix engineers, as well.
THE BAREFOOT ROOM
The Barefoot Room allows for extensive flexibility in recording projects, hence the name "Barefoot." No equipment in this space is bolted to the ground, making its endless configuration options perfect for overdubs, editing and mixing. Clients are able to use the studio's high-end outboard gear or bring some or all of their own. The Barefoot Room can even be joined as an extension of The Lodge in a tracking environment. The Lodge piano room can also be accessed by The Barefoot Room for recording piano.
