Tashan is an artist I'm currently working with.(PAY~PAY)About Tashan Hello MySpace Peoples My name is Tashan. I'm from Poughkeepsie, NY(845) 12601. A little place by the Hudson River in Upstate NY. Thanks for coming by my artist page. I've been in the music business for a minute now and wanted to share some of my music since its meant to be enjoyed by everyone. I got my first break back in the early '80s when Jalil from the group Whodini asked me to come with them to London and write a song called "Yours for a Night" on their debut album. I was going back and forth on the Metro north meeting with Russell Simmons at 1133 Broadway(Back in the day on the train...goin down to the city ......lookin for fame)playin him demos I recorded with just me and a piano. The journey from that point on has been a "trip" The ups and downs, the chance to be heard on radio to be seen on tv, to travel the world, but most importantly an opportunity to do what I love the most and that is write, record and perform songs. A song to me is like a baby. A gift from God that you create nurture and share with the world. Well from them Kurtis Blow put me on the first Fat Boys album (Can you feel it?) and Afrika Bambataa liked my track with Whodini and I toured with the Zulu Nation as a part of Shango. Finally got my own deal from Russell on Def Jam and recorded my first CD "Chasin a Dream". Took a long time to record it since it was my first time really making a record but I realized that if you put your heart and soul into something with focus and sheer determination God and the universe will allow it to happen for you. Thanks to Heidi Smith,Bill Adler,Lisa Cortez,Big D,Lyor Cohen, and Rush Management in those days. I made a video from this album that played on BET and heard my voice on the radio for the first time. Wow this dream is for real now. Traveled a lot in Europe on the "Soul Songs Tour" with Oran Juice Jones, Chuck Stanley, and Alyson Williams doing shows with just one band playin for all of us. I definitely felt like I was a part of the Motown revue like in the "Temptations" movie. Recorded my second album for Original Black Records (OBR) which was the label designed for us singers since Def Jam was the house of rap with my friends Chuck and LLCool J. That album was a collection of songs about the world and the black family. "Black man" and "Save the family" videos from that album played on BET too. I even got the chance to do and interview with Donnie Simpson on my birthday. My next album was "For the Sake of Love" that I recorded in London, England. It was a live album since I used musicians and the London Symphony Orchestra...Living overseas and making music was an experience I'll always cherish and never forget. I released my fourth mixtape style album "Life goez On" on my own label PowerKingdom Music and Recordings since I no longer had a deal on a major label. The songs on my page now are just a few ideas I have recorded. I hope you enjoy them and check out the lyrics while you listen. Like my man Extacy from Whodini said "All in All I've had a Ball" but the best is yet to come. I wanna thank all of the people I've ever worked with in the past and also to the people I work with now on my new project.....Paul Nice,Don Bashton.Sam Sever, Tango Dollar, Fly by Nature and Tom Vernon in the Uk, Ice, Soul Eternity Atl,to name a few. This internet has given artists a new platform to express themselves so let's us it to the fullest. For those who have this dream....I pray that you have the health, strength, blessings and courage to chase it. A shout out to Toby Walker from Soulwalking.co.uk for giving me my first artist page and presence on the net. All my love to my family (Pearse's and Pittman's) and my children. peace and love, TashanTJP
