The Beatnik

About Me

Poetry Blogzine currently located at whollycommunion.blogspot.com. One day we might get our own dot.com site with fancy features, but equally, we might not. The simple format and day-glo colours of the current site suit the small press prejudice of the editor pretty well, ta very much.Primarily we feature poetry and short prose pieces at the moment, but soon we hope to be branching out and doing interviews and reviews as well. So if you've got anything you'd like to see reviewed at the page, drop me a line and we'll arrange something. Photographs are also welcome. All material should be sent in the body of an email or as an attachment to [email protected] . The only thing I can't take at the moment is poetry that isn't aligned left on the page, because I still can't figure out how to stop the computer "correcting" more experimental spacing for me. Double spacing poems doesn't seem to be necessary anymore, though if you want to do that who am I to stop you?

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

It's called the Beatnik but that doesn't mean everything you send has to be Beat-flavoured or mention Kerouac. I'll read anything and publish anyone, as long as I think what they're saying is good or interesting. (But the Beats will pop up from time to time because of the extraordinary influence they continue to have on the small press, either as an example to copy or to avoid.) Published at the Beatnik in the past have been, among others, Gerald Nicosia, Robert Zoschke, Aleathia Drehmer, Mark Witucke, Wild Bill Blackolive, and J.D. Nelson. SUBMISSIONS POLICY: Well, if you know me and you have the address of the Lookout, or the Beatnik's Decompression Chamber, you can send your stuff by land mail. If you don't have the address or you don't do land mail anymore, you can send poetry, reviews, news and articles via this page or email them to me at [email protected]. A NOTE OF CAUTION: Spammers actually do get hurled into the Fiery Furnace come Judgement Day, so leave me the hell alone unless you want to burn in an eternal conflagration.A Thanksgiving Prayer by William S. Burroughs
