About Fixation
Fixation originally came together in Northern Ireland in 2003. We were just a group of guys with a love of music, wanting to play hard and live. After playing a few gigs in the Derry area with the likes of 'Libido Switch' and metalcore legends 'Slit', the band wanted to concentrate on writeing and recording original material. This first session in the recording studio led to the recording of their first demo 'Breathe or inhale'. The three-track demo included songs like 'Scream My Mortal', 'Denial' and 'Breathe or Inhale'.Little did we know, but those demos would end up winning us many fans, and not just locally. Interest not only grew all over Ireland and the U.K., but also gathered us fans in Spain and America. After this minor success and with a great boost of confidence instilled in the band, we set new aims and focused on progressing as a group. We wrote new material, practiced, continued to play live and changed our line up a few times, all in a bid to achieve and hone the sound we were looking for. During this time we also recorded another 3 track E.P. 'Addiction to be Saved'.The finalised band lineup consisted of Dara Crawford (Vocals), Paul O'Doherty (guitar), Niall Lynch (Drums/Back up vocals), Ryan Campbell (Bass/back up vocals), and Kerry Simpson (guitar). The name fixation doesn’t really mean anything relevant to us, which is basically why we choose it. We wanted our music to define the name, so that when people hear our music, they could say “oh that’s fixationâ€. This is something we are trying hard to get right each time we return to the recording studio.
