Hi, everyone! I'm 21, male and I live in Liverpool, UK. I am a student that is currently attending Liverpool John Moore's University in which I am studying for a HND in Computer Studies, which I am coming to the end of my second year of. After the completion of the second year, I then hope to progress onto the BSc degree course in Computer Studies! Before Liverpool John Moore's University, I attended Hugh Baird College for three years and have achieved many qualifications. My qualifications include a GNVQ Intermediate in IT & Computing as well as successfully completing my studying for an AS and A2 Applied Level in IT & Computing, which was a two year course, as well as achieving an NVQ Level 2 certificate in Music Technology.
I am currently on a break from my broadcasting slot on Liverpool's number one student radio station in Liverpool John Moore's University's Student Union based radio station by the name of Shout Radio, BUT I hope to be back in the near future! I am usually on the air every Wednesday at around 12PM to 6PM! You can listen live from the Official Shout Radio Website. All you have to do is go to our website at www.shoutradio.co.uk and click on the Listen Live Here banner. This should produce Windows Media Player, which should immediately start streaming the show. I will be sure to let you all know of any future live performances when they are confirmed!I play the guitar and keyboard. I'm better at playing rhythm guitar (chords) than lead guitar (notes and solos), but I do practise lead guitar in the hope of getting better at it, but I would say I'm a very good rhythm guitarist, and I hope that you would agree also.
2006 in many ways had it's ups and downs and positives and negatives for me in my search to find a dream career in music. After successfully putting my own band together of 4 members, it as good as split on the same day as when we were meant to be meeting up to make decisions about the name of the band; the cover versions set list that we were to start off with; and to look at each other's original material, I was left to have a one man band meeting! As the bass guitarist's excuse was the worst I have ever heard! He claimed that he had to help his dad and his cousin clean up his dad's garden that would of course take 6 hours (18 working man hours), so I sacked him! But, at least the drummer, and the lead guitarist/lead vocalist had good reasons to why they were unavailable! However, I was still a little upset that this meant that I was having my own personal band meeting!
I auditioned to join bands, consistantly getting the places that I auditioned for, but not really getting my break.
I auditioned for: Arsenic; KM-EM; Lady Nightshade; Pincushion; and The Relics in 2006!
In around late August I began the audition and process of learning the songs and getting to know the frontman of Pincushion better. Despite learning 17 out of the 20 Pincushion songs that I was gave the chords for the band disbanded after 4 months of me being their rhythm guitarist and keyboard player. Pincushion had existed since May 2004 and had played 30 gigs - 28 gigs in Liverpool and 2 gigs in Manchester!
In 2007, I was once again in a number of bands with varied results.
2007 began well as I was the new rhythm guitarist of a band by the name of Susan Hedges And The Other Kind, but I didn't find it was right for me, as I felt as though the band was more like Susan's backing band, and not being allowed enough creativity, which really wasn't what I was looking for given the situation of more solo performances for Susan, rather than band performances.
So, after Susan Hedges And The Other Kind did not work out, I had got myself into a rock band by the name of Veronica Mars! I performed two live performances with Veronica Mars on August 5th 2007 at a battle of the bands contest by the name of Rock Star Wars at The Barfly, 90 Seel Street, Liverpool, UK and August 17th 2007 at The Everyman Bistro, Liverpool, UK! Even though I enjoyed performing live in this band, and gave it my all, even to the extent of regularly promoting the band and getting the band a total of 10 live performances, I was sacked for two of the most lamest excuses that you can give anyone in music for why they are no longer in a band!!! They were that: 1) We don't like the same bands. 2) That my stage presence is apparently not strong enough.
First of all, "We don't like the same bands", yeah, sure, but it's alright for the frontman of the band and the drummer to like different music?
Second of all, "Stage presence", I would rather have a musician that knew what he was meant to be playing, and playing it well, and in time, than someone jumping around on stage, but making a lot of mistakes, and not being able to have the crowd hear what was being played due to the constant disconnection of the lead going from the guitar into the amplifier. Now I wonder who that happens to all the time? Mmmmm...Let me think...
Once Veronica Mars had decided to become egotistical, I found work only a few days later with R'n'B and Soul vocalist Caleb Morgan, as his acoustic guitarist!
I also found side-projects along the way, such as: Dole Drummers and To Be Concluded! I was the bass guitarist of Dole Drummers in September 2007, which despite having some great material, wasn't really for me, as I'm not all that experienced on bass as I am on other instruments, such as the keyboard and the guitar! I was also the keyboard player of To Be Concluded, but it never really got off the ground due to consistent arguements between other band members, although I was not involved in the arguements, it did severely halt the progress of the band during the short period of time that I bothered to stay!
After having performed a dozen live performances and recording the acoustic guitar for Dreaming with Caleb Morgan, I quit working with him due to consistent differences.
I have succeeded in my most recent audition and I am now the keyboard player of a Liverpool based Rock/Pop band by the name of Buzz Radio! Check my Top Friends List (top friend) to visit Buzz Radio's Official MySpace Music Profile; check out our songs; and add Buzz Radio!
I am also the games reviewer for ChillGames.Net! I can assure you that my games reviews will not be a quick two minutes review, or me pretending to have played the game.
