I am here for Friends

About Me

"A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do."
Hello!
I believe I should introduce myself; simply because well we're going to be in each other's company until either:
a) You get repugnantly bored, and declare never to visit this page ever again
b) I lose my job for libelling somebody, sleeping my life away, or just for being a bit cack
c) ..... One of us dies
d) I am sought after by a detective/bounty hunter... hmmm
At the time of writing, I'm 18 years old, though as the
internet has been running for what... a solid 15 years
or so, I could now be 33, and this could actually be
the oldest blog in the world. Except I just said that
the internet has been around for 15 years, so you
can work out that I'm writing this some time
around 21st July 2006 at 4:59pm.
Intelligence-wise, I'd put myself in the fine intellectual
crevice amid Jade Goody and Stephen Hawking.(Amin correctly pointed out that its more skewed towards Hawkings side he he he!) I was not
educated at private school, so let's get a few things
out of the way right now.
1. I have never played the biscuit game! 2. I do not march around in a silk top hat nodding how do you do to people (although the idea of wearing a top hat seems very appealing) 3. I do not have any domestic staff. (apart from your bog-standard butler and maid of course). 4. I do not know any jokes in Latin. 5. I have no yearning to be Sebastian Flyte, and I've not met Hugh Grant.
I want to go on holiday sometime soon; the thing is I am
not quite sure where to venture off to in this precise
moment in time I fancy a change (any
suggestions will be much appreciated!); somewhere
lively, maybe by the sea? And it's time I stopped vchoosing where to go on the basis of how close it is to
Spain. I am not going there, as my mature friends so
wittily point out every few minutes, because I "want
to get bxxxxx". You can see why leaving them behind
isn't keeping me up at night. (Now they are probably
snickering because I used the idiom 'keeping
me up at night'.) So I have resorted to having my
summer in sunny London. (on suite)
In fact I've been working for a good month and a half as
a London tour guide and it feels great. Yes that may
sound a bit eccentric but its my first ever job and its
seriously a good laugh; plus the Americans give great tips :D
Its a little funny actually; you live in London (oh ok
Wimbledon close enough!) practically your whole life
and yet the majority of people havent got a clue of
how fascinating and enchanting the city really is. As
something of a dilettante London guide I can honestly
say that your summer cannot be complete until you
have
spent at least a whole day in one of the
towns landmark parks. To enhance your days out experience and to make sure you have a day to remember,
make sure you go fully equipped; by that of course I mean with a fresbie in hand, a guitar (or two!), some
pimms and of course those crazy cats we have called
friends to share them with. There are countless things on
offer I shall leave out the long list until next time (otherwise this blog will begin to sound like some
propaganda campaign for Mr Livingstone but believe me it isnt!... and do remember to buy a damn oyster card?!)
An American tourist asked me the other day if I ever get
tired of reciting the same thing over and over
again when showing people around and the answer is
simply no! I get to meet new people on each tour and
each person has a different story to tell. Someone
once said that if you ever become tired of London; you
have become tired of life. So I think life should be like
living in London.a little inane at times; otherwise its like a bunch of Thursdays strung together!
Things I love (apart from smart films, Hermann Hesse and
milkshakes, not necessarily in that order) include Chinese takeout, my cousins, funny people, a good game of
chess (you know the ones that you start on one day and
go on for a while,) arbitrary acts of kindness, singer/songwriters/Dylan/Bright eyes ( this guy does it all for
the music no strings attached), London Town, family,
barbecues, crosswords, cutting out the pages in the
papers to do with medicine and scientific breakthroughs
(Medicine is my lawful wife and music my mistress; when I
get tired of one, I spend the night with the other),parties, weepy movies (oh the indignity!),
the people you meet on the tube who smile or like to talk (yes i have met a few believe me or not!),
summer, winter, (scarves, umbrellas, long oversized coats, and warm nights by the fire with friends
or loved ones inc of course), world peace, and ice
cream (when it has all melted so that they are more like
milkshakes J ).
Something that fascinates me are the last words to have
ever been said by important people; yes the idea
sounds wrong but it really is quite remarkable. How do they know what to say? I guess whatever you do say becomes
powerful in some manner or.. have they memorised what they are going to say as they lie there dying in the
comfort (or discomfort) of family or friends?hmmmm....
Things I disagree and loathe include people who attach
chewing gum on the eyes of faces on adverts by the
tube escalator (why?!), lemons, star bucks during the
summer (its just wrong! leave it for the winter!),
losing touch with people, and the guy who sings that tune in the Frosties advert.
My favourite smiley thing is this one :P simply because if
you place it at the end of any sentence it doesnt make
it sound daft anylonger no matter what you
say........:P
A friend of mine once said I have ataraxia.I think that I am unlucky sometimes; but
then again the unlucky are nothing more than a frame
of reference for the lucky.. .I guess I am unlucky, so
I that I may know that I am not. Apart from that, I'm
extremely happy, thanks very much; life is pretty good
fun :D
Well there you go thats me in a nut shell. A bit self-
indulgent, indeed, but then I reflected upon the fact
that you should know a modest spot about me before you
decide I'm an absolute instrument who shouldn't be
given a napkin and crayon, let alone a myspace blog/
or a blank page tiltled "about me". Nice to make your
acquaintance. I must now leave you.... need to borrow
some sugar from the neighbours. Fancy some tea or cider?
All the best and speak to you crazy cats soon!
Peace and love and stuff.........

My Interests

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls.

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.

My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day.

And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme.

And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I.
