Montreal band Lesley Lane was formed in the fall of 2005,
yet the sounds that were to emerge from this five piece had
been culminating for years in the mind of guitarist PATRICK KRIEF
as he toured the world with The Dears .
While on the road, Krief's catalogue continued to grow with no end in sight, and he soon realized it was time to bring these songs to life.
Needing a strong foundation for the music to build on, he
thought only of his cousin ANDRE BENDAHAN (bass) and life-long bandmate BILL ANTHOPOULOS (drums). At that time,
Anthopoulos was in Australia recording drums for Sam Roberts,
but he assured Krief that he would begin work with this
new project upon his arrival back home.
The following months saw the addition of Italian pianist
ROBERTO PICCIONI (keys and piano), who had recently emigrated
to Canada and by chance met Krief while out one night. The band
began rehearsing in their loft between Krief's tour schedule.
The music was emerging, but they had yet to find the voice to
compliment their sound. Drawing on their connections in the
local music scene, the band continued to hold auditions. After an
exhaustive search with no results, Bendahan thought of one last
candidate. He had heard that the engineer/producer, PAUL EDWARDS ,
whom he had recently collaborated with on the filming of a music
video, was also a singer/songwriter. With the final piece of the
puzzle in place, Lesley Lane rehearsed tirelessly for months to prepare
for the recording that would become their self-titled debut album.
