While bringing such a diverse group of individuals together in a musical setting, Raptors in the Rafters benefis from a very similar funk influence in each member's personal style. The ingredients to bring Raptors to your Rafters are based on the diverse influences and experience of drummer Barrett Hughes and power fusion funk bassist Kyle Brosch, also a veteran trombone player. The next layer consists of the Rock, Metal, Reggae, and classical influences from guitarist with 10 years experience of David, who is also a classically trained trumpet player. Finally, add a smooth yet crunchy layer of southern and Houston rap from frontman Josef. Josef's fly style and ability to spit vehement rhymes and sing catchy melodies is only a facade for being an incredible musician and lyricist. Blend all ingredients together with a heavy dose of funky rock chunks and voila, you have a Raptor infestation.
The Raptors have an incredible stage presence and the ability to incite energetic reactions from their fans with their bouncy rhythms and easy-to-relate-to and sometimes politically charged vocals. The ability of the Raptors' music to truly hit home with each audience member adds to the unusual emotional connection experienced through their music. This band not only aims to put on a good show, but to have a badass party. The Raptors are in the process of recording their first album, a currently untitled LP.
“We don’t want to play shows. We want to play riots. But as fun as they are, there have been times where we actually feared for our safety while performing, haha.â€
All members of Raptors in the Rafters are students at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. They love playing parties, takeovers, tailgates, or anywhere where they can turn up the volume and let loose. The Raptors are also very experienced in playing cover sets should any specific event require it.
