i was born and raised in a little town called Ceres in California. Just a few miles south of Modesto. My father was a building contractor who became quite prominent in and around central California. Raised out in the country, miles out of town on a huge piece of property. Had the usual. Chickens, pigs, horses, cows, pets. I sang to all of them. They were my audience from ages 3 until 12. Besides the Aunts Uncles and grand-folks plus sisters and brother. My stage was dad's tractor trailor and the fences that kept in the animals. My Uncle called me the little songbird. All that go along with the country vibe. It was a good place to spend my young years. Getting education from the 78's lps and the next generation of singers I so much loved. I was totally into singing like all of them and playing the piano. My name was Sandy Smith. I always had a love for music. Singing for everyone and getting paid for it too. A nickel here, dime or quarter there. Began singing in my church at about 12 years old. Became the star soloist with the Choir. Entered and won contests locally, regionally, nationally. Joined a gospel group that Andre Crouch introduced me to that was looking for a female lead. Danny Lee and the Children of Truth. The president of RCA and Manna Music, Hal Spencer at the time heard us and then signed us to their label. Had a lot of fun doing that. Hal has become a good friend over the years although we have rarely seen each other except for a brief time back in the early 90's when I had the privalege of recording some demos of songs he had written. He still writes and is very active in the music industry. His father Tim Spencer was one of the original Sons of the Pioneers trio with Roy Rogers and did several movies with him. Did some traveling. Did some more solo stuff. And realized I didn't like living out of a suitcase. But I have done several albums in my life. Did some TV shows. Lawrence Welk of all people being one of them. But it wasn't my bag. Sang at the Hollywood Paladium and at the Shrine. That was really fun. But, I just really wanted to have a family and be "normal". LOL Got the family but some might not think I am "normal":-) I have 2 beautiful daughters. Both have great talent. But the oldest, Samantha is the only one pursuing her music. She is amazing and writes her own songs. All She Wrote was the name of her band out here in Riverside. You will find All She Wrote on my top friends. You can get an album. Just contact her. She is Hooksinger, too on my top friends space. She sings bgvs on the side for various rap groups and anyone else who needs her. And is active as a worship singer in her church, Freeway church in Norco. You will find my youngest, Anastasia there on my top friends as well of course.. She does some modeling from time to time. She has just finished a calendar. They are very precious to me. The loves of my life. they are really very much individuals, if you know what I mean. Good kids, though. Just not as "old fashioned" as their mom.I try not to be a stick in the mud. I support their right to be who they are. I think their great! Phil, my husband, is a producer and engineer. He is very much the perfectionist when it comes to the music he lets out of here. He always gets the best out of every one who comes through the doors. We own and operate Sound Sanctuary recording. Phil also writes for EQ magazine and is moderator/site administrater for the music forum on Harmony Central. He's also a beta tester. I at times go out and sing BGV's for some of the clients. I write music as well but it has been a while. I am Starting the process of becoming a vocal coach, and am getting back into writing music again.God bless you all and thanks for taking the time to visit me and thanks to all my friends now and to all of you who will become my friends here on my music space. There is more to the story but perhaps I will add more in the days to come.Click here for Myspace glitter graphics and Myspace layouts
