ALESSIO BELTRAMI
Born in Brescia, Italy in 1979, starts as a rapper and gains thanks to this his first experiences on stage. Attracted by the most melodic side of Hip-Hop, Alessio makes a decisive change of direction when 18 years old, leaving sampler and rap to focus on studying piano and singing, immediately developing his first R&B songs.
SOUL MUSIC & LONDON
Alessio’s growing passion makes him fall in love with the Soul music of artists like Curtis Mayfield, Gill Scott Heron and Raphael Saadiq. Following the call of these sonorities, he moves to London in 2003 taking his microphone and keyboard with, determined to increase his artistic activity. Subsequently, Alessio comes temporarily back to Milan in 2004 to release his first single “Un’Avventura” (A love affair), moving then again to the British capital.
INDEPENDENT ARTIST
Between his last period in London and his definitive return to Milan in 2006, Alessio puts the final touches to his “6 Pezzi + 1 Remix” (6 Tracks + 1 Remix), record which sees him taking care of both the lyrics and the music, and which also features guest appearances by Italian Hip-Hop acts such as the well known Kaso, DJ Vigor and Stokka. “6 Pezzi + 1 Remix” is released through The Italian Soul, a project developed by Alessio and his colleague and friend Dario Serafino with the aim to promote an Italian way to mean and make NuSoul music. After releasing his record and then a video for the single “Prestami” (Lend me), Alessio gains remarkable attention from the audience, the TV channels Rai2 and All Music, the radio stations Deejay and 105 and magazines such as Max, Glamour, Rock Star and Groove among the others. Moreover, Alessio also gets supported by the main Italian underground medias, as for example the Hip-Hop radio Streetbeat.
COLLABORATIONS
So far, Alessio has been doing several collaborations with other artists. Since 2005, he has appeared on Kaso & MaxiB’s “Tangram” and on works by Bassi Maestro, Crookers, Fuoco Negli Occhi, Classe A and Personaggi Scomodi. Most recent is his important collaboration on the rapper Vacca’s album “Faccio quello che voglio”, released by EMI/Capitol in the month of June, 2007.
LIVE PERFORMANCES
Live performances often see Alessio teaming up with the Hip-Hop duo Kaso & MaxiB and the Funk band Brigante Connection. The result is something new to the Italian music scene and shows its point of strength in merging different genres, always highlighting the virtues of each one. During the shows, Alessio is the protagonist of the softest moments, besides accompanying the group on his Fender Rhodes for the whole time. Thanks to this formula, the team has been asked to perform at Jazz clubs and festivals as well as in TV performances for All Music and Rosso Alice.
