I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Hello AllI’m Ryan. I have found a bunch of Old Skool friends on FB so I decided to update this vs. just putting up my MySpace bio that I created in 2005. I was born in Minneapolis, MN and grew up in the burbs of Detroit, MI and spent the majority of my life in Valparaiso, Indiana near Chicago. Just go to Wikipedia and type in “The Region” and it will show you where I’m from. I consider Valpo to be my hometown and I go back when I get the chance to. I started HS at Lahser High in Bloomfield Hills MI but thankfully my dad was transferred back to Valpo before the start of my Jr. year. Outside of by best friend, this is where I met my core group of friends that I am still close with today. I graduated Valparaiso HS in 1995 and went on to Ball State University in Muncie where I graduated in Dec 2000 with a BS in Marketing. And now comes the music………I have always loved music and have been singing for much of my life. My new found friends in Valpo started a band called Serotonin and they really took me from a fan of music into an actual musician. I credit Jon Myers for inspiring me to become a musician and Dave Darrol for helping me become one. In December of 96 I got a Bass for Christmas and an acoustic guitar. I took some lessons from the talented individuals at Front Porch Music before heading down to Ball State in 97. It was during my time at Ball State that I wrote much of my original music. I also joined a band called Fulton’s Folly. I credit Pete Lents, Jeremy “Swirl” McSurely, Bradley Chambers for bringing my playing up to the next level. I graduated in Dec of 2000 and I reluctantly chose to leave my band due to the fact that I had no interest in continuing to live in Muncie, Indiana. I now had the decision of where I want to live to start my post college life. There was Chicago, (home-city) Kansas City (where my sis lived) or Orlando and I chose Orlando. The strangest / greatest call that I had ever gotten was from Swirl and he said “What would you think if we came with you to Orlando?” So the band came with me to Orlando and we changed our name to Phraym 313 (pronounced Frame) and played all around Orlando for the next couple years. But as many dreams of becoming a rockstar go…. so did this one. It just didn’t work out and I got an “adult” job selling ads in “Caribbean Travel and Life” and “Islands” magazines working at World Publications in Winter Park. At this point I chose that music would not BE my life but would always be a part of my life and I chose to go the cover band route. I then met the greatest guitarist that I have ever known in Chris Dupre and we formed a band called “Triple Octane” and rocked out classic rock covers around Orlando for the next couple years. I love all the people I met in Orlando but change was to come again. If World Publications / the magazine industry in general could have paid me a good living salary I would still be there today. I don’t blame them, people hardly read magazines anymore. I am a great salesperson but I could no longer ignore that my clients were not getting the responses that they had been accustomed to and I had a hard time selling advertising when I doubted myself that these people would get the ROI that they hoped for. I currently live a pretty comfortable living but I can site 3 things which hindered me career wise. 1. Graduating college not long before September 11th, 2. taking 3 years out of my life to pursue being an actual rock star musician and 3. becoming a recruiter at the dawn of the worst economic collapses in my lifetime. Well back to the story, LOL. My rents have been in the recruiting business since 1999 and it is a weird profession to say the least. One day you feel like Jesus giving someone and their family a better life and the next day you feel like you are selling life insurance or a long distance phone plan. I have made a true positive impact in the lives of nearly 10 people and their family but it is still hard dealing with rejection and my fathers criticism of me not having 30 years of industry experience like he does. But in the end I will assume my role as Ryan Fridley. The guy that makes your life better in any way that I can even if an intrinsic reward is all I will receive. Maybe that is all one can ask for and I am OK with that. If you would like to hear any of my stuff check out http://www.myspace.com/ryanfridleysolo Or the YouTube videos on my MySpace page. My work in the bands Phraym 313 or Triple Octane are also on YouTube and can be found by simply typing those names into the search engine. Hopefully my new band Someone From Somewhere will have stuff up soon.
