The jared Morris Foundation, a not for profit organization, is seeking sponsorship donations for a benefit show in October. The purpose of the benefit show is to bring the people that loved jared together doing what jared loved best, and to raise money for a high school scholarship fund set up in memory of jared Morris.jared Morris was a 20 year-old Longwood High School graduate, as well as a student at Suffolk County Community College. jared was killed on May 9th 2004, just blocks from his house when an SUV plowed into the side of the car he was driving, killing him almost instantaneously. Music was always a part of jared's life. Accordingly, the jared Morris Scholarship will go to a student of Longwood High School who has an interest and talent in music and who is planning on attending college to further his/her musical career. The first $845 for the scholarship will come from the money that was left in jared's bank account.Though we will never ever forget his infectious smile and with his laugh still ringing in our ears, we hope to create an event that can create the kind of impact jared made on everyone he met. The scholarship fund will allow jared's love for music to be brought to future students that wish to pursue their dreams. Through this benefit show, we will celebrate and remember jared's life the way he loved to spend his time.jared embodied as a person what most of us will constantly work to be, but may never achieve. He was truly and honestly a good person. He was someone that everyone loved. jared touched so many people in so many different ways and had a way of bringing together people who would otherwise have never met. Even in death, he serves as a shining example of what can happen when truly good people do great things. His 'great thing' was simply being himself. As he wrote in his journal the day before he died, speaking about a band he had seen that night, he said, “…they have brought a great deal of people together. Most of these people are my true friends I'll love till I die.†jared had the same effect on those around him. Rather then let our grief overtake us, jared's friends are doing what he would have wanted. We came together in the hope of honoring our friend and we hope to make jared's memory live on through our actions. We hope you will be able to donate anything you can afford to give. Donations will allow us to cover some of the production expenses of this event so that all proceeds can go directly to the scholarship. Any donation will be appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. For more information on jared, where to send donations, pictures and more about why he meant so much to all of us are up, please feel free to visit the website in his honor: http://jaredmorris.com/Sincerely,
The jared Morris Foundation
