I am Ryan, hear me roar.

Some people never leave the house.

About Me

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head in a guillotine
But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.

My Interests

Music, climbing tall things, the water, stouts, driving across the state of Utah, the no boundaries tour, watching football all day on Sunday, talking to interesting people, history, mandolins, college girls, nerdy conversations about movies and directors, new orleans, las vegas, san francisco, baltimore, freestyle rap, 2:30 in the morning gathered in the living room with my brothers and friends playing guitar and singing, standing on top of a hill in Texas on a Wednesday and thinking aloud: "What an absurd thing this life is."

I'd like to meet:

The cast of Cheers. Hell, at this point I'd settle for the cast of Wings.

Music:

Tori Amos, A Perfect Circle, Aerosmith, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Chris Thile, Clancy Brothers, Coldplay, Dar Williams, Damien Rice, Decemberists, Dixie Chicks, Death Cab for Cutie, Dresden Dolls, Dubliners, Franz Ferdinand, Garbage, Gnarls Barkely, Greenday, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, John Lennon, John Prine, Kathleen Edwards, Kid Rock, The Killers, ICP, Esham, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Nickel Creek, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Oasis, Patty Griffin, Pink Floyd, Postal Service, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Rilo Kiley, Rolling Stones, Sarah McLachlan, Scheer, Smashing Pumpkins, Station's Creation, Stone Temple Pilots, System of a Down, Tool, Tenacious D, Van Halen, Willie Nelson...plus a million others I can't think of right now.

Television:

24, Boston Legal, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Rescue Me, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Family Guy, Sopranos, Deadwood, Entourage...has it really gotten to the point where television is better than film?

Books:

I need to be writing more.

Heroes:

The man, the myth, the legend...James Spader.

Essay 1: On Television

There are those out there in this world that seem to derive their chief satisfaction in life from making themselves feel superior to those around them. I meet these people every day. You know who th...

I'm coming home!

It's a tremendous day.  Actually, Wednesday was the day, but I am still riding that adrenaline wave through the week.  This is a good thing because I've barely slept and it must be the only ...

San Antonio, Texas - Day 60

I couldn't get out of bed this morning.  I just physically could not.  My arm hurts like I strained it during some strenuous activity, but I did no such thing.  This is a kind of tired ...

Ft. Worth, Texas - Day 34

Can it really be late February?  A week ago I was freezing my ass off in the snows of Michigan and today I walked down the streets of Ft. Worth in a short sleeve shirt.  March is upon us: le...

Allen Park, Michigan - Day 23

When you're traveling everyday it is hard to find a routine.  As change becomes the norm I have found that some sense of home can be maintained by staying at the same hotel chain.  Yes, I st...

Bloomington, Illinois - Day 13

It is cold.  I mean really cold.   Driving through Chicago, the wind swept the stinging snow against the windshield at such an alarming rate that I thought the glass might crack and shatter....
