About Me

Taterz is a band that has it's roots in the 60's. When they were just teenagers, Tim and Phil played together in a band called "King Arthur and the Royal Knights". After a couple months of this, Phil's dad told him that we were a bad influence on him and told him that he had to quit the band. He then introduced Phil to a "nice" boy who played guitar named Jeff Knudsen.

A few months later, Tim, Phil, and Jeff started a band called "The Heatwaves". This was a 7 piece show band with a horn section. This band stayed together throughout our high school days.

After that band broke up, Tim and Chris Carlson joined Bob Feist, Dennis Anderson and Chuck Fox to form a band called "The Warbabies". Jeff and Phill went on the various other bands including the "Deminsions".

Moving forward to July 2003, it was Tim's 55th birthday. He decided to have a birthday party/jam session. Phil, Jeff, and Chris were invided to this party. Also present was a young singer and harp player, Correy Kuntz. Out of this birthday party the band "Dick Tater" was formed. Billy Pringle had also been invited to the party and became the bass player. Billy was a one time road musician that had traveled through the US playing country and rock music. Correy Kuntz was later added. Correy was with the band for awhile and then left and remains a good friend to this day.

While were performing as "Dick Tater", Chris was also playing with local band, "Joe Friday". New Year's Eve rolled around and Chris was committed to playing with "Joe Friday" so we inlisted the assistance of a local new comer, Les Davis on the B-3 Hammond Organ. After this gig, Chris decided it was too much to play in two bands and left our little troop. It was around this time that we changed the name of the band to "Taterz".

Les stayed with the band for a year and then left for greener pastures in North Carolina where he remains to this day. We called Chris and he agreed to play with us again.

Fast forward to Jan 2008. Billy and I along with our sound tech, Jeff Monthye were working the "Winter Blues Party" staring Joe Moss. At this gig we heard a young lady named Alicia sing with Joe and Richard Torrence. I was impressed with her vocal talent and when Steamer told us that she was looking for a band to sing with, I called her and set up a meeting. She came to a session with us and was hired. The rest as they say is history.

If you have been looking at our site, you may have noticed that we have a harp player in some of the pictures. Well you have heard about Billy Preston being the "fifth Beatle", the harp player is Keith Bride and he is known as the "seventh Tater"!! Keith is a good friend of the band and he just loves to jam with us so he sometimes shows up at our gigs and plays some fantastic Harp!!! We really enjoy his playing and his great personality!!
