About Me

View my page on Hell In A Handbasket
I am a carpenter by trade. Mobile Carpentry
Have Tools ~ Will Travel
Custom furniture, cabinetry, staircases.
Spirals and Curves are my specialty.
Functional Art Design is my goal in woodworking and the philosophy is Wabi Sabi. not to be confused with Wasabi... ;~)
The masques, and the images derived of them, are a self taught expression that began in December of 2006.
They are constructed of plaster cloth, marketed as 'Rigid Wrap(c)', as well as other names. It is essentially the same fabric that a cast would be fashioned from. Wire of several guages is used as well to form armatures to support some of the pieces having more features.
The pieces are then finished in plaster of paris mixed with wood glue as a hardener. I did not think of the wood glue myself, but it was suggested by a friend, and voila! Wish I had known of it sooner, as several very early pieces have shown some tendency to fragility. But we evolve with the process as it evolves itself.
I am going to be loading up the albums very soon and for the next few weeks. If anyone wishes to feature any of their art in an album here, I would be delighted to accomodate you and share your genius with the world!
A most wonderful thing has happened in the form of an artistic collaboration. My Friend Slamma and I have been plotting on a work named Peace Warrior for some months. Not so simple as she lives in Pennsylvania. But it is done. There are some preliminary images in the Albums already.
I would invite any one who wishes to do a similar collaboration to contact me as well. You Pick Any Masque.... The only One not available is Peace Warrior. If there are any more exceptions, I will so note it in the albums as they post.
Thank You Always.... See the Smile i Cast Your Way!
