I do active, sporty stuff... pretty much all the time.
I'm constantly training for triathlon, adventure races, or short running races (5k, 10k, maybe a Half Marathon this year?) planning and leading climbing, camping, backpacking or mountaineering outings with my friends. Or I'm flying out to Utah to visit my son and ski or climb with him and my brother.
I've always wanted a motorcycle, and the horrible traffic (and great weather!) of LA finally prompted me to buy one. I ride everywhere, essentially every day, using my car only for those weekend trips with tons of gear.
I've lived across the United States, including Hawaii (born there), Utah, Texas, New Jersey, Connecticut, Missouri, Florida, Michigan and now California. I've set foot in every state except Alaska.
I've travelled a bit in Europe (a bit means England, Ireland, and Italy), and somewhat extensively in Asia (China, India, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan). I absolutely love travel, and can't wait to do more. These last couple years in California have proven to be rich in adventure travel, and there are still a few places left here that I really want to experience, like Mt. Whitney (one of these days, hopefully the mountaineers route, or even the east face!), Yosemite, the ancient Bristlecone Pines in the White Mountains, the Kelp Forests off San Diego or Monterey, Big Sur, Mineral King and the Kern River Valley, the Lost Coast, and Mt. Shasta.
When I can't travel myself, I host other travelers via CouchSurfing.com and HospitalityClub.org (username: ZoAnyway). I've hosted wonderful and fascinating people from New Zealand, Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, U.K., Japan, Indonesia, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Malawi, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Pakistan, Netherlands, and... the U.S. too.
Once upon a time I was vegetarian - for almost 11 years. Today I just eat a lot, lot, LOT of fruit. Particularly mangos, peaches, avocados, watermelon, oranges, grapes... interesting no? Mmhm. Yeah. Didn't think so. Why on earth would my diet be interesting!?
To earn money, I write software. That's especially un-interesting.
To satisfy my creativity, I write and perform songs, though typically only when I'm under some kind of emotional duress. I play guitar, but only well enough to sing along with my silly, sad songs. I play piano too, but only well enough to relax myself late at night with headphones.
