About Me

Hi, my name is Braden, and I'm an alcoholic (cue everyone: "HI, BRADEN!" after much soul-searching I have finally decided to go the way of so many historic hotties (Lindsey Lohan, Murphy Brown, Betty Ford) and get my fine self to the re-hab. I will be leaving for an intensive 12-month inpatient treatment program in the frozen Tundra of North Dakota, starting this Thursday Dec. 4, 2008.In addition to getting sober, I will also be travelling the countryside, sharing my story with today's teens-- trying to convince them to spend the most vital years of their young lives practicing self-discipline and restraint (yeah, restraint! woo-hoo!!). It is the firm belief of the individuals in charge of this program that by sharing my experiences I may help other youths avoid my past mistakes (you know, living a life of wreckless abandon, travelling the country partying with rockstars, having promiscuous sex with multiple partners while simultaneously experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence free environment). Now that I think about it, I probably need to work on my pitch a little. anyway, I'll have loads of time to work on it.Unfortunately, I will not however, have access to the internet (at least for sometime) which means that I will be unable to add new friends or communicate with current ones through this site. In fact, the treatment facility is pretty much off the grid, so unless you own a telegraph the only way to reach me will be at the following address:Braden Bilyeu PO Box 8012 Rapid City, SD 57709.All my mail will be forwarded to me, and I absolutely promise to write back any person or entity kind enough to favor me with correspondence. So if you feel so inclined feel free to write me anytime (fan mail, hate mail, words of encouragement, discouragement, suggested amends you feel I should make to you when I hit the "making amends" step of my recovery, anything at all really) I would so love to hear from you all. Letters or no aside, I will be thinking of all of you (or at least most of you) very fondly.I honestly believe that this is the best thing I can be doing with my life right now, and I look forward to all that life has to offer upon my successful completion of this program. In the meantime, I send you my love and best wishes. be sure to take care of yourselves and each other, and to cherish every moment of your freedom, health and happiness; and share it with those you love the most. peace and love y'all. keep on Barack-in' in the free world! see you in a year! over and out...

Make benefit glorious nation of U S and A...

This poem was originally inspired by yet another night of chronic insomnia.  Funny how most of poems tend to be inspired by either insomnia or heartbreak (maladjusted, much?)  but I digress....

Tears in my Java

Sometimes when faced with heartache, the only thing you can do is laugh. Seriously, sometimes when the trials and travails of life hurt so much, your options suddenly get whittled down to: (A) hang yo...

Any poet who has ever been in love would probably agree, there’s no better time to write a poem. This is a poem I wrote when I fell in love with a beautiful Irish girl on the eastern shore. ...

Cyber-poetry

Ok, ok, you got me...it’s just regular poetry; but everything sounds cooler when you put "Cyber" in front of it, don’t you think?  I just attended a really cool evening of open music,...
