Is there an age limit?
Yes, girls over the age of 19 for skaters. Any age for volunteers. Volunteers include medical personnel (for our boo-boos), coaches, cheerleaders, administrative help.
What is the equipment I’ll need and how much will it cost?
No equipment is required during informal practices unless you feel you need it. Skate at your own risk!
Helmets - To skate you will need a Pro-tec helmet, which you can find at Dicks Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Infinity’s End and any skateboard shops. You can try online retailers if you prefer, but sizing might be difficult if you don’t already know what size you will wear. Prices range from $20 to $40.
Pads - You need wrist guards, elbow and knee pads. Find a brand that will absorb a lot of shock. These you will need to try on since they need to be snug. You want to make sure they aren’t too tight though. The prices range by brand.
Mouth guard – Walmart sells the kind that you can drop in hot water to mold to your teeth as well as generic guards. If you want to really protect your teeth (or not ruin all the work your parents did on your teeth with braces) visit your dentist and he can make a special guard.
Your best bet would be to visit a skate shop and have them help you get set up with the best gear. You want to protect your body as best you can.
Roller skates – Here’s where your opinion can really affect your cost. At the cheapest, you can find a pair of skates at Goodwill, Salvation Army, Craigslist or ebay. However, you’re not going to want old skates. The parts need to be in good condition. Choose quad skates and not inline.

Do I need to know how to skate?
Yes and no. If you’ve never, ever skated in your life we suggest giving it a try first. We welcome all girls with all skating skills. We will all be learning and practicing together, learning the skills needed for effective team playing. If you would like to learn some of the necessary skills visit:

What are the fees to join?
Right now, the only fee will be for time at the skating rink. Kate's Skating Rink in Indian Trail, NC cost is $30 a month.
