About Me

I WEAR A CHICKEN HAT

Click Here If You Want To See Some Photos

I have been spending WAY too much time in Kansas lately. It is good to be back in the ATX, even if it is only for a few weeks.

I am just trying to reacclimate to this reality.

My head is sweaty and my palms are getting sleepy. The cookie was a little too green apparantly.

I manage to stay positive despite my cynicism. I manage to believe in people despite what people make me believe. I like to celebrate life as often as possible, especially at happy hour, and late night, and the other times. I like to make fun of people who like to make fun of people. I like to help old people and children do bad things. I like to spend time spending other peoples time. I like to make plans to think about the things I am going to think about later. I like to go to the hospital and volunteer my wit.

Sometimes I like other things.

I can almost tell shit from shinola.

I'd like to meet:

.. width="425" height="350" ..I would like to meet Johnny Cash circa 1958.

I would like to meet a Druid.

I would like to meet Ernest Hemmingway in France during WWI, or maybe in Havana on a dark, humid night. We would arm wrestle and he would slam my arm to the splintery wooden table and he would hurt me and call me a pussy. Years later he would shoot himself out of regret.

I would like to meet people who engage in spirited political/theological/ethical conversations.

I would like to meet you.

Music:

Everything except new country such as Toby Keith and Big and Rich. I also detest mid-gen pop like Britney and Jessica. I don't listen to death metal all too often, but it has its place. Especially Kittie's Brackish

bands i do like include, but are not limited to:

The Postal Service * The Jayhawks * Jurassic 5 * Of Montreal * Toof * Jane's Addiction. Dinosaur Jr. A Tribe Called Quest. Beck. Broken Social Scene. Mason Jennings. The Beta Band. Wilco. Hall and Oates. Them. The Rolling Stones. The Scabs. The Shins. Spoon. Robert Randolph (but only live). Norah Jones. RHCP. Ozomatli. 2Pac. Air. Ambulance LTD. Otis Redding. Al Green. Johnny Cash. plus I love good comedians on disc, such as: David Cross. Dave Attel. Bill Hicks. Mitch Hedberg. Lisa Lampinelli. I haven't found anything yet, but my secret crush on Sarah Silverman will make me collect anything she can put in recordable form.

This list is intolerably short.

Movies:

This could take all year, me like movies.....Apocalypse Now * Rushmore * Y Tu Mama Tambien * The Professional (Leon) * Lost in Translation * Caddyshack * Little Miss Sunshine * The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada * E.T. * Rad * American Flyers * Amelie * The Motorcycle Diaries * Fear of a Black Hat * Waiting For Guffman * Closer * Romeo and Juliet (the spicy version) * Bottle Rocket * What the ..@%& Do We Know * Hooper * Snatch * The Outlaw Josey Wales * When Harry Met Sally * Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon * KUNG FU HUSTLE!! * And the Band Played On * Drunken Master (one and two) * Jesus is Magic * Eddie and the Cruisers * Amores Perros * The Shawshank Redemption and letter to Rita Hayworth * The Empire Strikes Back * old H-Street (starring Jason Lee) and New Deal skate videos * ......I have to stop now because I am only about 1/100th of the way through this list.

Television:

Arrested Development * Weeds * The Daily Show * Aqua Teen Hunger Force * Space Ghost * Curb Your Enthusiasm * The Simpsons * The Office (UK version) * Sportscenter * PTI * Around the Horn * Deadwood * Anything on Discovery or TLC * Jeopardy * Scrubs.

Books:

A Fan's Notes (This book is good. I have read it 4 times in the last 6 months or so) * Honeymoon With My Brother * Grammatical Man * Vagabonding * A Confederacy of Dunces * Farenheit 451 * The Man Who Wrote Dirty Books * Naked (or anything else by Sedaris) * The Sun Also Rises * On The Road * The Prophet * On Dreams * .....I really dig non fiction more than anything else. I could spend all day reading text books. Also, I am hooked on Wikipedia. One simple search about the 3 Reichs associated with Rome's perpetual occupation of the known world during the middle ages led me down a path of historical exploration that I could have never received in a classroom.

Heroes:

Don't really think I have any heroes. I do appreciate the way the outlaw country stars like Wille, Johnny, Waylon, Merle, Kris, etc. lived.

I greatly admire Sam Smith for going through the shit and still waking up each day looking for something good. Real friends are hard to come by, and Sam is the real deal.

I also love the optimism Chris Scull, aka K-Dog, aka Chino Casino, aka Scully, brings to the table each day. No one runs L.A. quite like this kid. Now lets just get our production co. up and running fool. I am tired of you having all that talent, and Brandon being the money editor, and us not blowing up that scene. I am so ready to be your locations manager.

And Eddie Eskola, damn that kid is smart. Anyone who can easily and readily discuss time space continuum, yet still recite the lyrics to the first UGK album is definitely my hero. I feel better knowing that you are holding down NASA!
