About Me

Raised "twenty something" hours from Toronto at "the other end" of Ontario, Erik Bleich came to be in a small mill town called Dryden. Early interests included, dinosaurs, space travel and glow in the dark objects...and as far as things go, they pretty much remain as such. At random points along the way, Erik was introduced to several different instruments including drums, piano, harmonica, tuba, organ and bagpipes, but nothing really stuck - the guitar was the one. It allowed for 86% more rocking than a tuba, 106 times that of a bagpipe, and was .34 times heavier than an organ (which - if my math is correct, is actually much lighter). Assorted musical acts ensued, including everything from a folk pop duo known as the Lookers to Beatles cover band-turned alt pop quartet Niedermayer Reisen - stops along the way also included a lo-fi/pop/shoegaze/punk/harcore-ish band with occasional alt ska undertones and a cult following named Alphonso. None of these bands really went anywhere ginormous - though the Lookers were chosen from a regional audition for a spot at the Trout Forest Music Festival in 2006 (which Erik returned to "solo" in 2008) and NR where hired for various northwestern events including a spot opening for The Waking Eyes and Trooper at the John Ricci Memorial Music Festical in 2005. Growing tired of the limelight that these acts brought-with, Erik sprung out on his own and wrote some incredibly lame/strange, yet catchy songs that amused eight people...this gave him the confidence he needed to move to Toronto and attempt to make a living for himself. In reality he went east for school, and then discovered that he wasn't as terrible as it seemed and started writing more, and more, until eventually he was at a point where he was almost content with the odd tune...then he became awesome and is currently working on taking over the world... ...and that's more or less, the facts. Plans to release "an album of sorts" are currently in the works, so keep an eye out for that in the coming months...
