I am married, and we live in Southeast Arizona.
My wife Julie and I have been avid rock hounds for about 7 years now. It all started soon after we met in 2000 involving a four wheel drive Bronco and a rock hammer.
Actually it was a Ford LTD but once we found out we couldn't travass the AZ mountains in it, we got the Bronco.
After doing this for about one year,(looking for gems and minerals),we joined a local Gem and mineral club.
Through the club we were able to expand our knowledge about minerals of the Southwest, particulary in our area. The club met once a month and would have guest speakers to educate us all in different areas of Geology, Mineralology, and Gemology.
The club also would go on specific field trips each month to look for a particular mineral or gem.
We have learned a lot since those early days and have used that to recruit others into this exciting and ever changing pastime.
We have since developed an exstensive website detailing many of our adventures. It also contains much information relating to many topics regarding the great Southwest, such as, travel, weather, etc.
