Hurry up or it might be too late. Don..t miss the given opportunity, no matter what the consequences may behold, remember, „you never get a second chance to make a first interaction“. Most people have a hard time recognizing this moment, they prefer waiting until it is safe to take advantage of the developing trend that is about to unfold upon them. In our fast paced, materialistic orientated society of today, this behavior is surely considered smart marketing, because why make your hands dirty, if somebody else will do it for you? But there are occasional exceptions which make all the difference in the world. Those people are called pathfinders, not willing to sit around and always eager to take matters into their own hands.
One of these exemptions is without a doubt the booking agency Family Affairs, which definitely proves that an alternate route is possible. Alternate in the sense that musical passion, farsightedness and the capability to channel it creatively, is far more important than an oversized budget and the keenness to exploit other people. These costly attributes are not for sale, either you have them or you simply don..t.
Heike Richter, head of the in sunny Spain located „Family“, which branches out to Russia, Columbia or even Littleton, who her self is an active DJ and was once an avid member of an illegal pirate radio-station, which was responsible for cleansing the commercially polluted airwaves, surely carries these essential characteristics deeply in her. This is also the case for her beloved colleague Thorsten Krohn, former owner of the legendary Hamburg underground club E.D.K. The newest member of the crew Marco Starke also does, previously responsible for juxtaposing artists around for the Berlin based agency Jackfruit. Her present DJ-roster, which may differ in many aspects, musical resemblances are hard to find, but as far as sharing the before mentioned traits, they all get along just perfectly. Be it Gregor Tresher, master of intertwining divine melodies with a traditional Techno-aesthetic, or the rather tall rowdy's Moonbootica, who make the impossible seem possible, Karotte, who from day one serves up a LP- platter that simultaneously ignites the heart and the brain, Monika Kruse, depending on mood and outer temperature will present a groovy, minimal or at times earsplitting mixture of electronic specialties, and, last but not least, John Acquaviva, the Canadian turntable-pioneer, whose record collection exceeds the imagination of even the boldest. Of course talented newcomers such as Ante Perry, Monosurround and Einmusik are not overlooked, quite contraire, they are cordially invited to join the tuneful parade. What we end up with is an eccentric bunch of zealous entertainers that understand the meaning of musical relevance and know how and when to display it with possibly a jaw dropping club set or a groundbreaking 12 inch.
Any efforts to put a cheap tag on Family Affairs are useless. As times are changing, so it this „Family“, but never with any deliberate intent.
