About Me

In July 2007 my mum, Shirley Lea, became very poorly. After she was rushed into hospital we discovered that she had myeloma (a debilitating form of bone marrow cancer). Unlike other cancers it can go unnoticed and, although it doesn't spread, it does get progressively worse and causes damage around the body.
We had never heard of myeloma before mum was diagnosed and we think, looking back, that she had been living with myeloma for a number of years. In October, all of a sudden and after three months in hospital, my mum died aged 58.
My mum always put others before herself and during the last three months in Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, she kept her sense of humour and was always smiling. Coming to terms with her death is proving very difficult for everyone who loved her.
My mum loved music and throughout 2008 I'm looking to put on a series of concerts "Music4Myeloma" in the South West raising funds and awareness for Myeloma UK.
These events will feature all sorts of music from classical concerts to metal mayhem - chilled out jazz to party punk - acoustic class acts to magic of the musicals . . . if any of these gigs, concerts or events take your fancy please come along, say hi and help me raise funds and awareness to fight this terrible cancer.
Many thanks
Dan Biggane
