Musician, Italian, currently living in Rome. Lived for 7 years in the US, studied at SUNYAB and UCSD (Ph.D in composition.
Music I make: difficult to describe, my roots go from jazz to classical and contemporary music, Indian classical music, minimal music, at the moment very much into Australian aboriginal music. In some measure, all of these go into the music I make. For many years I’ve worked in the field of serious contemporary classical music, untli I decided I had had enough and I wanted to make (that is, write and play) music I really liked.
I’m a composer and wind player (clarinets, saxophones, didjeridoo), vocalist (mainly overtone singing, propably the thing I’m best known for), work with electronics and produce most of my music in my studio.
I teach at the Florence Conservatory.
Mostly I work (record and play recitals)on my own or with selected musicians ..ed projects. My most famous (though of underground
fame) group is probably PRIMA MATERIA, a vocal improvisation group which lasted 7 years, from 1973 to 1980, recently re-issued on CD by the Italian label Die Schachtel and reviewed by The Wire. My latest CD, of which I feel very proud, is called SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY and is available on the CD Baby website and on itunes. All for now.
