YUVIGI

About Me

The rock band Yuvigi was found in 2002 by Valentin Monovski (guitars, vocals) and Iavor Pachovski (guitars). The two came up with the idea of making a progressive metal band that will bear the mark of Bulgarian history and culture. Thus, the band was given the name Yuvigi (meaning 'great khan' in Bulgarian).

Shortly after, Panayot Solakov (bass, violin) joined in and the band started creating their first songs. Nevertheless, the constant fluctuation of drummers and singers in the band was a major obstacle. These problems forced some structural changes, as Iavor took the place behind the keyboards, and Valio and Panayot began taking turns on the vocals.

In 2004 Yuvigi increased their activity after Kalin Hristov-Katsko (Balkandji) joined the band. Few months later Yuvigi began making regular club performances and joined several rock festivals. Although most of the live sets at that time consisted mainly of cover songs (Dream Theater, Metallica, Queensryche, Kamelot, Marillion, etc.), the guys were gradually preparing their own material.

In the early 2006, after Katsko left Yuvigi, Spaz Genev sat behind the drums. More than 3 years after it had been initially found, the band was finally complete. Yuvigi began playing mainly their own songs. In the beginning of 2008, the band released three demo songs - 'Biagstvo' (Runaway), 'Vuprosite na Grada' (Questions of the City) and 'Siva Pustinq' (Grey Desert). At the moment Yuvigi are recording their first studio album and continue making live performances in Toucan Bluzz&Rock, The Club, Rock bar Fans and others.
