About Me

Mostly I'm here keeping in touch with friends and looking for music, but I'm not against meeting new people. . . one can never have too many friends right?

My Interests

I love all kids of music, movies, kickin' it with my friends and family. I like sports (basketball, football, MMA and boxing mostly). Enjoyable conversation (deep or just flat out stupid it don't matter just be interesting dammit!!!) I enjoy reading and write a little. As a matter of fact I like to think of myself as a bit of a poet (although some of my friends disagree -- but SCREW THEM!! -- lol). What else? Oh yeah I almost forgot. . . it is impossible to live in Hawaii and not appreciate great food (we get it from all over the world!) There's lots more, but if I told you everything now there'd be no fun in getting to know me right?

I'd like to meet:

Really? I'd like to meet all of my Myspace friends (and if you aren't one of my friends, but you're reading this and you're cool, I wanna meet you too (so send a friend request)....

Music:

I listen and appreciate just about EVERYTHING!!!!! From Eminem to George Strait, Placido Domingo to Pearl Jam, Brian Mc Knight to Atmosphere and Brother Ali. If I'm buying music it's usually hip-hop (but not that watered down bling rap you hear on the radio) or R&B and some country. My boss listens to a bunch of rock at the office so I'm getting re-aquainted with some of the great bands from the 70's - current!

Movies:

I like lots of stuff from Gangster flicks: Boys n the hood, Menace II society, Scarface, Casino, Goodfellas, Juice, Set it Off, etc., to Romantic comedies (Yes, I said Romantic comedies) like Hitch, Love Actually, My Best Friend's Wedding, Pretty Woman, Two can play that Game, Brown Sugar, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days etc. I also like straight up action flicks like Troy, Spider Man (2), Batman Begins was cool, and the Blade Trilogy The Warriors is CLASSIC! but at the same time I also dig good writing in a movie Like Finding Forester, The Hurricane, Ray, Million Dollar Baby, Love and Basketball and CLERKS!!! Hit me up and we'll talk movies some time. . . .Jam these 3 movies together and you pretty much got my life. . .

Brown Sugar for the pursuit of truth in hip-hop. . . Finding forrester becuase it's about writing, basketball and overcoming stereotypes to uncover brilliance and friendship. . .and I have damned near LIVED 8 mile. . .

Television:

DEF POETS ON HBO IS THE SHIT!!!! I'm also currently diggin' on TV land, Nick at Night, G-4 TV and as always all the ESPN channels, Spike, The Food Network, VH-1, MTV2 and the Digital music channels. My nephew just got me hooked on watching Myth Busters and Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel and I just got hooked on Fight Quest oh yeah and Beauty and the Geek.

Books:

Phantom by Susan Kay (out of print but worth looking for). . . .The Art of War by Sun Tzu (timeless). . . The Book of Five Rings by Musashi (read it from the absolute beginning and concentrate or it will all sound like gibberish by the time you reach the end). . . Death Blossoms by Mumia Abu-Jamal (he's innocent dammit!!!). . . Les Miserables (My favorite book ever!!!!! - but I could do without the long history lesson on the battle of Waterloo -- It doesn't really matter all that much to the story anyway), Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess (don't front, he was brilliant)The Prophet by Khalil Giran (PICK IT UP words to live by,no title has ever been more appropriate). . . Poetry for Dummies (it just seemed appropriate),My Boring Ass Life The Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith (The writer/ dircector of Clerks 1&2, Chasing Amy, Dogma etc. he cracks me up!),The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan (I picked it up as a way of killing time in Borders and got sucked in!), currently reading the Treasured Writings of Khalil Gibran and Def Poetry on Broadway

Heroes:

My Moms (both of them)and Dad, my friends (there is a reason we're friends)My employers (why not idolize successful, good people? with ...Tupac, Bob Marley, Iz, Victor Hugo. . . for finding ways to use your talents to effect people and move thier souls to action through the beauty of thoughtful words, wisdom and heart. We should all learn to do the same. . . . Kids loving unconditionally is something we should never outgrow, but sometimes the realities of the world strip away the innocence one needs to stay that way. Seeing someone who isn't jaded is a great way to keep yourself centered and positive.
