Gideon's Army is a small 24 voice Choir based on Chicago's West side. It was founded in 1998 by Brother Verzuane ( VJ) Mccoy. His love for such musical greats as James Hall and Ricky Dillard and Richard Small Wood would heavily influence his own sound and song writing. Later he would discover the awesome vocal talents of Donald Lawrence and Tri-City and and Marvin Winans and Perfected Praise and tell his choir during rehearsals, give me Tri-City. Give me Perfected Praise. He also was influenced by the Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer Choir.Gideon's Army actually broke up for two years as all of the members were focusing on thier church ministries, families, etc. It has been astounding to the choir at the love and appreciation that has been shown once the choir reformed.The Choir recorded an album in 2003. Most of the songs were written by Verzuane Mccoy with many musical arrangements by his brother Vazel McCoy. Melvin Crispell lent his considerable talent on the organ and as MD.The Songs on the play list are songs from that soon to be released album. Of course these are ruff draft live versions of the songs but you all get the idea.
It didn't take a lot for Gideon's Army in the Bible to win. It only took them shouting and singing and God to confuse the enemy.Every time Gideon's Army sings, We pray that the enemy is confused and God Gets the Glory. ( Shout out to G3 and His People)
