After several members of the band had their own musical projects, Mandrágora was found in begginimg of the year 2001. Original members of the band were Luis Villanueva on drums, Jesus Alemán as the vocalist, Daniel León on Lead Guitar, Carlos Cabral in the Rythm guitar, and Rafael Hernández on Bass Guitar. This is how the project of Mandrágora was initialized having the primary objective to compose original music pieces and also to play covers of our musical influences. When the band was advancing to another musical level, it was thought that it was time to add another musical complement as a keyboard player; and so it was that the band got Heriberto RamÃrez to join the band permanently to play the Keyboards.
During the years, the band participated on several events called ¨¨war of the bands¨¨; even though a lot of those events were arranged or justa a fraud, we achived to have followers in the city and we were able to get related with other local bands that shared our same ideals to make and perform not just cover song but also original songs.
During the summer of 2002, the band was in need of another vocalist, as the original lead singer Jesus had to leave the band for personal purposes. And then he got the substitute vocalist which is our vocalist to this date. Even though the new soon to be vocalist had a different style than the one that the band needed, he leardned and found the way that we needed him to sing for us to be a better complement to our music; so our lead vocalist..til this date is Victor Aguilar.
In the year 2003, the band had to look recruit another bass player as the original memeber Rafael Hernández had to leave because of the band..s interests. And then we received calls from who was our next bass player Juán Alvarez.
On the year 2003, the band had now played on several local bars and receved very good response from the local crowd and also from our border neighbor city of El Paso and also from south of Chihuahua state.
On the year 2004, just when the band was advancing to a higher musical level, there were some issues and different interests betwen band members, and then the band split up before the end of 2004.
The band reunited on the year 2005 to record 2 songs for the project called ¨JuariTodos contra la violencia¨, in which there were apparences of local bands.
The band remained inactive until the beggining of the year 2008 as some members were participating on other musical projects.
Then, in april of 2008, the band got back together withuot some of the original members with the following lineup: Victor Aguilar on Vocals, Daniel León on Lead Guitar, Jesús Rueda on Bass Guitar, Luis Villanueva on Drums and Heriberto RamÃrez on Keyboards.
During 2008 the band was back on to the gigs retaking their original music material, and sharing the stage with a lot of good local bands.
This is how we had the idea to add another guitar player, and then in the beggining of 2009 came Enrique Acosta to play the Lead guitar with us, and also was interested in the making of new songs with us.
In May of 2009 the drum player and original member left the band because of other personal and musical interests.
