I am here for Networking

About Me

My name is DJ Coz (Oohhh Oouuu): Born in Augusta, GA. and raised in Athens, GA. My first exposure to a live DJ with two turntables was at the age of 14 in 1984, at the Fresh Fest in Atlanta. Jam Master Jay (R.I.P.), opened my eyes that night and I felt like I found something that I had a true passion for and since then its been on. I started at WiLD 98.7 in 1998 (shouts to Orlando) and I currently hold down a ton of time slots on WiLD 98.7fm. You can catch my mixes at 6am and 7:35 Friday mornings(Freakshots), Also 12noon-1:30pm (Old School Lunch), The 5 and 9 Oclock Bombs and The B-Side of the Friday Night Bomb from 11pm-1am at club SKYE. When I'm not mixing on the air you can catch me at some of the hottest clubs in town, Including Temple and Hyde Park Cafe. I appreciate all the love that central Florida has shown a GA. boy and every time you hear me mixing, that's the love coming right back at Ya!!!!!!!!!!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Dj CozDj Coz's career started when he was only 14 years old, (even though he didn't know it at the time) That was when he took his first group's cassette single to the local college radio station (90.5 fm WUOG) and waited outside of the locked radio station's door until the on air personality got off that night. Needless to say the jock was impressed that someone so young, for one was out that late (11pm) and had actually saved his money and been to a recording studio and recorded a song that was ready for air. Later that year Dj Coz known then as "Cosmo" (gotta love the 80s) attended the Fresh Fest in Atlanta and was able to capture the entire movement all at one time and in one place. Feeling very moved by that entire year Coz started doing high school parties, (proms, homecomings, etc.) and then at the end of 85 got a position at Skate Around USA in Athens, Ga. This might seem minimal but to be 15 years old and having a "real" Dj job that actually paid money was awesome! In 1989 Dj Coz got his first radio job at WLOV 100.5fm in Washington, Ga. That continued until 92' and that's when Coz decided he wanted to see the reaction on people's face when he played the songs that they loved so much, so it was to the nightclubs of Athens, Ga. First came Thomason's, a 25 and up type club that had live music with Dj sets in between the bands sets. This was good for Coz because it gave him experience with an older crowd and exposed him to music that he wouldn't have normally played at previous gigs that he had. This included music from the 60s and 70s and even country music night ( yeah, achy breaky heart style) lol. This made Coz a well rounded Dj that had experience that his fellow Djs laughed about. They're not laughing now. Throughout the early 90s Coz worked at various nightclubs in Athens moving away from the 60s and 70s stuff and getting back into the music he loved so much, Hip Hop and Hip Pop. In 1996 Coz had the opportunity to move to Tampa, Fl with a friend who already had a job set up for him at a local "adult entertainment" spot called Pure Platinum. That lasted for about two years and Coz got bored with the talking every 3 and a half minutes to people that could care less if he even spoke, and decided to take on the entertainment district known as Ybor City in Tampa. Platforms was his first job in Ybor and the experience that he got back in Athens at Thomason's now had paid off. Platforms was an all 70's and 80's music format and Coz fit right in making Platforms one of the most successful Nightclubs in Ybor throughout the late 90s, at this time Ybor was not a place for hip hop, focusing more on disco and techno. The owners of Platforms gave promoters the opportunity to do a Thursday night "college night" and on that night the format changed drastically, playing mainly hip hop, reggae / dancehall and some old school. Once again Coz fit right in with all the experience he had. Djing along side of Tampa legends Mad Linx, Coz took in as much as he could, learning about reggae and dancehall and how this genre of music moved the Tampa crowds. They were the first to bring that type of music to that entertainment district during that time, The crowds wrapped around the corner every Thursday night and at that point they knew that hip hop was in Ybor to stay! Around 1998 Coz started working at Club XS in downtown Tampa and picked up the Friday night position which was broadcasted on local radio station 93.3 wflz, what a huge break for Coz, in late 98' 93.3fm lost the broadcast to a brand new station called WILD 98.7. Since Coz didn't actually work for 93.3 he was able to meet with a then assistant program director named Orlando and program director Dr Dave. They put him on and Coz became one of the Bomb Squad for WILD 98.7. Throughout the late 90s and into the 2000s Coz has worked side by side with the on air talents of 98.7 to make the station 1 year after year, book after book, and he has performed on stage in front of thousands each year for the annual concerts that WILD 98.7 has had, including but not limited to, The Last Damn Shows (1-9), Wild Splash (1-9), and The Erotic Exotic Ball(s). Dj Coz is not only a radio mix show Dj, he also provides local and national Djs with his own "Liquid Mix" brand of remixes and blends since 1997. At the end of 2007 Dj Coz became the official Dj of the Tampa Bay Lightening Hockey team and currently holds down residency's at Club Skye, Fullmoon Saloon and Hyde Park Café.www.myspace.com/djcoz2008www.imeem.com/djcoz911www.wil [email protected]/djcoz2008
