I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Born and raised in Sacramento, California (Rancho Cordova, followed by Cameron Park). Had some GREAT times at UC Santa Barbara and met a bunch of people from all over the world who I hold as dear friends. Moved to Washington, DC with the intention to help the world out and make my way in it. Worked for a Japanese Foundation for two years, focused on US-East Asia relations. During that time, Simon the British lad that I met at UCSB in 1999 became my hubby (Married on May 1, 2004) and we're having an absolute blast together, hiking, traveling, and trying to take advantage of our time here in DC. Since July 2005 I've been working at The National Geographic Society in their grant-giving division. There are always awesome scientific, conservation and adventure-oriented projects coming through here and being featured in the magazines and on TV. I am even in the minority of those at the Society that actually get to travel a bit (Honduras in '05, Egypt in '07, and Vietnam & Cambodia coming up in '08). I'm singing in a German-American chorus in DC (founded in 1851) and have lots of solo opportunities, which is lovely. Playing volleyball and softball when I can, and generally life is pretty good! Simon and I are itching for the west coast again...WE MISS CALI TOO MUCH!!! Everytime I hear a great song on the radio on a beautiful 70-80 degree sunny day with a breeze (which doesn't happen all that often here), I dream of the times I went out with friends in the convertible along the 101 or PCH, and long for it all over again!! My Interests

..

www.Worldsurface.com, Music, singing, volleyball, dancing, world travel, photography, event planning, camping, international people/relationships, singing, crafty shiznit, singing, leeetle bit of politics, Japanese language, matchmaking (what can I say, I have a gift), spontaneous road trips, singing, cooking without a cookbook, reading.....did I mention singing??

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent, creative, open-minded, well-traveled friends - or those who at least want to travel through education and learning about other cultures in other ways. People with a level head on their shoulders and a positive attitude...negativity sucks.People with common sense and awareness of their surroundings. Maybe I'm anal, but I just think life could be so much simpler if people took a second to "see" what's around them, what's going on, and realize some rules are made because of a natural way of things, like yin and yang, and the golden rule, perhaps. These are the people I want to meet. It's like humans have lost their sense of place in the wide world. Open your eyes, people! Speak compassion and peace, but only after you have figured out where your head is (currently in your bum, perhaps?).
