About Me

Born 23/09/1989 Sam Holdroyd (aka Grove) has been writing music since the tender age of 13, starting as a music class project, it soon became more and he wrote several songs, all different topics that were performed live for his classes, however, without the knowledge of recording, apart from on an old tape deck, he soon stopped the music and concentrated on other things. However in late 2004 a classmate approached him and together they made music together, Sam as the rapper & Tim (aka Big T) as the producer, an album of 20 tracks was released under the alias "Fat Sam" around the school and soon a considerable buzz began. In the early summer of 2006 Sam changed his name from the childish Fat Sam to Grove (named after the street he was raised in) & set about creating himself a soundclick page, here he started making connections and collaborated with emcees from London and Glocester, after getting caught up in a war of words with Canadian rapper King Gangsta, Sam put together his first mixtape The Wigga Please EP it was a compilation tape featuring The Flow (now known as X Konn), Rhyma (now MarQuee) Eucharist and many more, it was a poor tape at best, but still a step in the right direction, he ended 2006 on a low with no way to record but an entire tapes worth of tracks ready. After being bought a mixer for christmas, Grove set about recording his first independant tape The Tic-Tac-Toe Mixtape it took a week, there was no mixing and it was again, shite, but it was a product he could show his friends and pass about, after that he set to work on his first album Under Wraps after perhaps 8 months it was finally released in December 2007, still available to download it wasn't a great effort, however it was give 4*s on www.datpiff.com.pre In April 2008 Groves secons album Guv'nor Grovesta was completed, however it was shelved until the start of December where it was made available to download and was a sort of run up to his next tape The Myth. Due to drop the day before he joins the Navy, Groves next tape promises to be better than anything heard before, he said, The Myth is definately gonna be a tape hip-hop fans like, it's got some shit hot collabs on it and now that i've got me mixing up to scratch it sounds better than ever. There is a chance it's going to be me last tape, what with joining the navy i wont have much time to record and write and shit, so who knows, i hope it won't be, and once you've heard The Myth, neither will you
