Traveling & trying to learn new languages is the height of my interests. Traveling broadens horizons on so many levels. You can learn so much about people, culture, art & history by visiting another country. I am in the process of learning italian, french and spanish. I would really like to learn japanese too. I would love to learn how to cook more nutritionally and cook other types of cuisine, french, asian, etc., I would also love to learn how to dance ballroom, salsa, tango, I think that would be fun. I want to learn more about art too, I think if I could it would be interesting to work for a muesum as a guide or curator.
I'd like to meet:
I would have loved to met Gene Rodenberry & Carl Sagan. These were the visionaries that could imagine hope for the human race that we would become more evolved and better than what we are now, realizing that full potential that is in all of us, sadly most do not utilize it. I would also like to meet Stephen Hawking as the torch really has been passed down fr. Roddenberry & Sagan to him to carry this mission on. I would have also luv'd to meet Edgar Alan Poe & just have a conversation with him - which would probably be something like living poetry. I also admire a lot of bristish & european actors [Kate Blanchett; Ewan McGregor, Patrick Stewart, Ralph Fiennes; Liam Nelson; Kate Beckinsale; Catherine Denueve;Geoffrey Rush; Iam McClellan; Christopher Lee; Anthony Hopkins; Christopher Eccelston; Christian Bale; Fanny Ardant; Malcolm McDowell] they seem to really convey the ideas more accurately & truthful to the character as the writer intended it to be.
Music:
In the heart I am a total punk rocker, I luv Crass, Subhumans, Rudimentary Peni, Conflict, Total Chaos, Chaos UK, Minor Threat, DK, Misfits [the original], The Business, Operation Ivy, MDC, Circle Jerks, Fear, Black Flag [before stupidass rollins came in], The Partisans, Exploited, Cramps, Oi, etc., I also like a lot of industrial music & goth type music: Ministry, NIN, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Some Cure, Siouxie & Banshees, Frontline, Danzig, Pantera, Classical & Opera Music, Soundtrak to the Exorcist, Trainspotting, Queen of the Damned & Hannibal. I also like a lot of world music Gypsy Kings, Buddha Bar, Traditional music from Spain, Brazilian Jazz, BB King, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Stray Cats, I really like 80's music but some people just play it way too much and I am starting to actually dislike it becuz its getting played out. Television:
I am also a sci fi finatic. I luv battlestar galatica the new one of course. I am a total trekkie. And no I do not get dressed in uniform & go to conventions, I just pretty much watch & go to Star Trek Hilton in Vegas about once a year. I luv Voyager, TNG, Enterprise, the 4400's. I absolutely luv Star Wars. I also luv Adult Swim. Its funny, interesting and fresh. I luv ATHF, The Birdman, Venture Brothers, Bebop, Sealab. I really wish there was a way to continue Bebop or hope that Bebop would come back. I just got into Squidbillies, Over There & Law & Order. For such a long period of time I refused to watch Law & Order because half the shows re: law & the justice system are not true to what really goes on - I found a lot of shows to be pure nonsense. One of the reasons I like the Birdman so much is because it makes fun of office politics and is also a spoof on these bullshit law firm shows on network tv. I really am quite fond of A&E Cold Case files and the like because that is real & this is the shit we really live with everyday in our own backyard. I think it also reminds us that anything can happen at any time, life is precious and we not immune as we like to be to terrible things. As many people would not like to face the things that really go on in the world (to consider, to provoke thought, to ponder). I also like Animal Cops Houston & NY. Most reality tv shows like A. Idol, A. Next Top Model and the like I am generally not intrested. To me those shows are not real, the people they pick and cast are actors, using these shows as a sort of resume for better parts, how can you take it seriously, and the people on these so-called shows are told to act or start stupid fights so I just can't watch that shit. I see the appeal, its understandable that actors are way overpaid and people want to see someone on tv they may feel they have more in common with but to me its just a charade.
Books:
I like to read folktales ie., Folktales Around the World, Lillith Jewish Tales of the Supernatural, Yiddish Folktales, Russian Folktales, Chinese Folktales, etc., I think you can learn a lot about how people come to certain ways of thinking, customs and social mores by way of the stories they have passed down from generation to generation. I like to read DK Eyewitness Travel guides. Its very informative. I like to read reference i.e., medical and language books. I also luv Heavy Metal comics, that is my porn. Heavy Metal has a lot of great art and interesting stories.
Heroes:
People who are not afraid to be themselves, whether they reap a societal/political backlash for being the individual that they are; That takes courage.
