I was raised in rural Arkansas where my parents allowed myself and my three siblings to keep orphaned wild animal babies until they were old enough to survive on their own. My family owned a vintage Kodak 8mm movie camera that enabled me to start making corny home movies. My interest in nature filmmaking progressed and before I was out of college I spent a rugged summer in Alaska where I created my first feature film.
