Every hardcore nut must be de-kernalised before it can truly rock again...hence the reformation in February 2005 of West Sussex brothers Ollie and Ben (formally of Lockdown Project). They are back, hungrier than ever and on course to complete their original mission...to rock
After almost eleven years on the road supporting various well known and not so well known artists, playing in venues that range from real dives and pubs all the way up to stadiums and arenas across Europe, Ben and Ollie decided it was time for a re-think. Sitting back for a while, things went a bit quiet, Ollie went back to cooking pies and Ben went off to start a kung fu school, is this really what they wanted to do? Answerno! they knew their music career was not over, a gut feeling that told them not to let go of their dreams. So, it was back to the drawing board, back to basics, back to playing the style of music they love, the style of music that got them into this game in the first place.
As they perfected the Rubik sound, Shane was recruited to this arsenal in April 2005, a guitarist from Hertfordshire who was well known in that area for his skills, such skills that would put any guitarist to the test.
In September 2005 the arrival of Gid on bass guitar completed the line-up, the final piece of the puzzle was in place, Rubik was born. An alternative rock band blending solid beats, driving bass lines, in ya face surging guitar riffs with infectious heart felt melodies poured over the top. This is something very fresh and unique indeed. Influences range, from underground hardcore/punk to mainstream pop, this due to the vast musical taste of each band member.
To get the full picture, watching a live Rubik show is a must see, the power, the energy and the professionalism the band give out is hypnotic, so at ease with their surroundings, as if the stage was their birthplace. When they finish they leave the crowd begging for more.
There are no barriers.
