Vancouver Island singer/songwriter Marilyn Smith has her roots planted in the country and hitches her style to the roots rock/country stable. She began performing in the 80's with the country rock bands, "Bittersweet" and "The New West". For many years, she toured the western country bar scene throughout British Columbia, the Yukon, and Washington State. During this time, she met some of the finest musicians and engineers in western Canada and recorded some of her songs with their help, which led to her becoming a finalist in the Vancouver Seeds competion for 2 consecutive years. Although these songs gained her some interest from members of the Canadian record industry, she chose to discontinue her music career to raise her 2 sons, a decision she does not regret. Now several years later, she finds herself performing again, unable to stay away from what she loves to do, and the writing follows, this time bringing more maturity with her. Marilyn's new release “Cradle of Secrets†speaks of the passage of time, of self realization, of love lost and love found.
