Mal Vu

About Me

Mal Vu started in Columbus Ohio in the early 90s. Soonafter, performance artist Vena Gore and punk rock musician Deerod Brown collaborated on the post-goth, sparse blues, slow grind, noize fraught "King of Skin," the first official Mal Vu recording. After relocating to Chicago in 1998, Vena Gore went to work in a post-production music house where she spent every available moment honing her mixing + recording skills. Traci Trouble joined the weekend sessions to become a regular member of Mal Vu. A new song was conceived, written, performed, and pre-mixed almost every weekend. Special guest stars were called in regularly. While Mal Vu has played across multiple genres, the Mal Vu sound + style remains unmistakenly unique; there's an awareness -an intelligence and underlying seriousness- to those who play in Mal Vu; all of which must be backed with talent, style, and an obscene sense of humor.
There are currently six full-length Mal Vu albums.
Vena Gore is temporarily in/out of Dayton + Columbus.

To befriend Mal Vu, you must answer three questions:
1. Do you paint over your bad feelings with shrill optimism?
2. Do you drip with style no matter what you do?
3. Do you mull about on your tip-toes?
(if you answered 'yes' to question 2, please continue)
