She has performed at schools, banquets, weddings, fundraisers, ARMY/ Soldier shows, Hispanic Heritage Events, Black History Month Events, churches, and talent shows through out Louisiana, Hawaii, Delaware, Virginia, Texas, California, New York, and Maryland. Erica discovered her love for the stage at the tender age of 9, while her family was stationed in Ft. Polk, LA. The first two songs she'd ever performed in front of a live audience were the classic hits, Mariah Carey's "Hero†and Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love of All".After a few years in Louisiana, Erica and her family were sent to Schofield Barracks in Oahu, HI. There she competed and performed in various talent competitions and shows including "Road to Fame", "Brown Bags to Stardom", "Rising Stars", and Al Waterson's "Karaoke Nite at Fisherman's Wharf".Once in Maryland, Erica went to a local studio to record her rendition of Celine Dion's "Immortality". The owner, Jim Kelly, was so impressed with her versatile vocal ability,love for music, and drive that he suggested she record some original/demo material and referred her to some local musician’s and producers throughout Maryland. She has 13 Original Songs to date.
"I love experimenting with different styles. I love all varieties of music from Pop/Rock to R&B to Hip Hop/Soul and, of course Spanish music. I grew up listening to everything from Led Zepplin & The Stones to Prince & Motown , so I'm very open minded."Already a local celebrity, featured various times in the "APG News†and "The Aegis", Erica was asked by APG's Morale Welfare & Recreation to open for Jessica Simpson's "Dream Chaser Tour" on Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD alongside Eden's Crush, Toya, and Youngstown.Shortly following the Jessica Simpson “Dream chaser Tour†performance, Erica had the opportunity to perform as lead female singer with one her producers bands "Who Struck JOhn", giving her the chance to perform in Ocean City,night clubs, banquets,weddings, receptions and opening for "Life House" at Camden Yards.Erica was named Grand Prize Winner in the "Uplifting Minds 2 Talent Competition" after she and another female performer tied and the audience was asked to vote."I actually competed in the competition (Uplifting Minds 2) 3 times before I actually won. There have been many times I have tried and failed. But, in the end, at least I can say I tried. Success is so much sweeter if you work harder for it. That goes for anything in life."She is currently in the studio recording new tracks for 2009. "My Cousin "Mach 2" is an amazing producer, guitar, piano, and drum player and I could not ask for a better person and musician to work with. I see big things for him in his future. He can rap and sing. He can do it all."
"I've definitely grown as an Artist, Writer, and Vocalist and I want all of these things to show in the new material," Erica says of her upcoming projects. "I'm truly excited. It has been an amazing experience working with all the different producers and musicians and they have helped me become what I am today. It hasn't been easy. All I want is to establish myself as a reputable artist and to gain the respect of listeners and other performers. With that in line, good things are sure to come my way."
