About Me

More Coming Soon...
My AutobiographyEver since I can remember, music has been an integral part of my life's experience. I can remember my Dad singing and playing guitar with his band, and when I was 11 I got my very own guitar for Christmas. Growing up in our trailer I’d make mixed tapes of my favorite songs on the living room couch, which also doubled as my bed at night. As I entered high, school hip-hop had infused itself into mainstream music. I was mesmerized by the baselines and beats combined with the lyrics that spoke hard truths. Even though I didn't grow up in the inner city, I had humble beginnings and knew hard times. That part of the “struggle” struck a chord with me and I found a new way to express myself. I became completely engrossed with its style and unabashed freedom of expression and my freshman year I began entering dance competitions.I moved to L.A. in 1999 and soon after attended my first rave and heard house and trance music for the first time. I watched a live dj perform, blending tracks together. The combination of beats and melodies had a synergistic effect and I was mesmerized from the onset. Right then and there I knew I wanted to experience what that was like for myself. In the summer of 2001 at a friend’s house, I got the opportunity to feel what it was like to be behind two wheels of steel. A few weeks later I was compelled to buy my first set of turntables and a mixer, and I began digging for vinyl. I would come home from work during lunch, thus earning the moniker dj nooner. That same summer we started partying at RED – one of the best underground clubs in L.A.After two years of playing house parties, I got my first opportunity to play at a club. That club was RED. It was the most amazing feeling having all those people dancing and reacting to the sounds I was playing. The euphoria from hearing the synergistic mesh of two tracks. The adoration from people that they were feeling the same thing that I was feeling. It's hard to describe. The only thing I can compare it to is when you lock eyes with someone and instantly have the same thought and feeling. No words are needed and both of you know that you are on the same incredible ride. I then spun at RED on a regular basis at Park Plaza, and later at Larchmont. In the summer of 2005, I began searching for a signature sound which I found in electro house. I had wanted to find a style of music that was unapologetic, brash and honest. Electro house embodies that style. Its blend of sexy vocals and melodies against fat bass lines and hard driving beats are similar in effect to how hip-hop music made me feel when I was younger. The beats and melodies are infectious and the sexiness is in your face and impossible to ignore. It is unavoidable and can sometimes reach across the dance floor and smack you in the face! This has become my new love, my new obsession, my new sound, my new escape, my new venue for self-expression. randall scott @ NIKITA 10-11-08
