Ginette Bertrand (alias Djinn) compositeure

A seasoned composer and graduate of Laval and Montreal Universities, Ginette Bertrand is also a self-taught painter and has been a vibrant contributor to the worlds of fine arts and stage creation for more than twenty-five years. For over ten years, she was a close collaborator of star choreographer Pierre-Paul Savoie, penning the music of numerous dance and multimedia stage shows, including Pôles and Bagne that have been acclaimed many times throughout Canada, Europe and the USA. Her sound palette draws on ancient and oriental modes and so do her paintings, imbued with Orientals and a personal vision of rupestral art. Ginette Bertrand signs her visual work whit her pseudonym DJINN, she has had a number of personal and collective exhibitions in Montreal and Québec in Canada and in China walking away with Best honours.In June 2000, she was honoured with the GRAND PRIX du Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, for the remarkable quality of her musical catalog and for her involvement in regional culture. This allowed her to realize the long-term project of setting up a network of Salon Expo-Concerts. A first event of this kind, "Expo-Concert chez Djinn", was organized in October 2000 then every year, during summer season, she welcomes in her home some artists and musicians who can present their works in a verry intimist way and have the opportunity to perform on her grand-piano or expose their visual works in her house, garden and workshop. Since then, Ginette Bertrand has been signing her pseudonym DJINN to her graphic artwork. Her interests are shared between music, painting and world travel
