MAURÃCIO MARQUES -
Formado em Violão na Universidade Federal de Pelotas, é Compositor, Arranjador e Instrumentista, com trabalho voltado á Música Folclórica Gaúcha e Brasileira.
Vencedor de inúmeros festivais de música, já foi condecorado com o Troféu Milton de Lemos (1998), Troféu Vitória (1998), Prêmio Açorianos de Música (2004) pelo seu disco “Cordas ao Sul†e escolhido para participar do 7º Prêmio Visa de Música Instrumental Brasileira, (2004), Projeto Rumos Itaú Cultural (2005), Violões do Brasil (2005) ao lado de Paulo Belinatti, Duo Assad, entre outros.
Integra o Quarteto Maogani e atua no cenário da Música Regional do Rio grande do Sul ao lado de Geraldo Flach, Renato Borghetti, Luiz Carlos Borges, Celau Moreyra entre outros.Desenvolve repertório voltado ao Violão de Oito Cordas.
Em 2007 tem um livro com suas composições editado na França pela Editora Henry Lemoine(coleção Sergio Assad).
Se apresenta em formato solo e em grupo (com contrabaixo e percussão), com base nos ritmos do Folclore Gaúcho, com muita técnica, arranjos elaborados.-------------------------------------------------

1998 Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Performance, Guitar, from the Federal University of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. French professor Ivan Jevitic was his research director in composition and orchestration of Gaúcho folkloric music.2000
Records the CD Obra de Astor Piazzolla, with the accordionist Oscar dos Reis.2002
Becomes a member of the Orquestra Brasileira de Cinema.2003
Selected to represent the Government of Rio Grande do Sul for the opening of “Expotchê†in Brasilia, DF, and at the Rio de Janeiro Book Biennial.Participates in concerts with accordionists Luis Carlos Borges and Renato Borghetti in Possadas, Argentina.Records “Cordas ao Sul†a solo CD, with his compositions and others by gaúcho composers Renato Borguetti and Geraldo Flach. This CD earned him nominations for three different award categories for Premios Açoreanos (Porto Alegre, RS) and, in 2004, an award as Best Regional Instrumentalist.2004
Selected for the Visa Award for Brazilian Instrumental Music.Performs with Toquinho, Kleiton and Kledir, Plauto Cruz, Dominguinhos and his Orchestra at Teatro SESI, Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.2005
Performs for the Projeto Rumos Itaú Cultural – (Bank) Itaú’s Cultural Project Directions.Records CDs and DVD presentations, in addition to recording with Duo Assad, Paulo Bellinatti, Grupos Maogani, and other groups.Produces and records Violões do Brasil – Guitars of Brazil, a multimedia publication including a book, CD, and DVD.
Invited to join the renowned Quarteto Maogani, for a Projeto Pixinguinha tour of Brazil with singer Miúcha and pianist Leandro Braga.Also with Quarteto Maogani, participated in nine concerts in Germany and Italy.2006
Participates with Luis Carlos Borges and Renato Borghetti in concerts and in educational presentations at the Western Folklife Center’s 22nd National Cowboy Poetry Gathering’s Cowboys of the Americas project, featuring gaucho artists form Argentina and Brazil, Elko, Nevada.“Violão de Foleâ€, soon to be released, is Marques’ current production, and includes his compositions for the eight- string guitar.AWARDS
