About Me

************************************************************ *************************ENGLISH**************************** *** Just to have written the wonderful music of "Five centuries equal", the theme with lyrics of León Gieco, Luis Gurevich has won a place in the Popular Argentinean Music’s Anthology , compilation that doesn’t exist yet but that already has enough quantity and content quality as to do so. But this composer, music arranger , producer and multinstrumentist has more work to assure a highlighted place in the first plan of the popular music of the south of the world. And he also has the future in front of him. Gurevich has been the creative partner of Gieco since 1988. Together they have composed an interesting quantity of themes, almost all already classics of the repertoire of Gieco: "Idol of the burnt ones", "Eye with the Orozco", "it Rotates and it rotates", "every day a little", "Teachers of Jujuy", "River and sea", "Messages of the soul", "As a train", "From equal to equal", "The penitent", "Where do dreams fall", "unintentionally", "Route of the coya", "The mothers of the love", "Song to fight" and the one mentioned "Five centuries the same" these are some of them. He has also shared with Gieco the artistic production of their last disks, "Orozco" (1997) and "rural Bandits" (2001), and the one of "every day a little" of the young folkloric singer Abel Pintos (1999). And as producer and music arranger, Gurevich has put his signature, among other themes, in "a farmer’s Prayer" of Victor Jara and "in passing" of Luis Eduardo Aute, both versioned for Gieco records for tribute (1999 and 2000), and in "The gentleman Five pesetas and me" and "Five centuries the same", own themes that Gieco included in the soldiery disks "Chiapas" (1996) and "Pampas of the Indian" (1998) respectively. 20 years ago, in that beginning of the 80¨s that would break in two the Argentinean popular music’s course and also the history of the country because it was the moment of the recovery of the democracy after the devastating dictatorship of the torture, the kidnappings and the 30 thousand that disappeared, Gurevich entered in the music’s scene with a role not minor: being keyboard player of the group Prema led by Piero, the singer-author that represented, next to other figures like Flat Mercedes, Victor Heredia, Charly García and León Gieco, the return to the spring of the elections and the good-bye to the military authoritarianism. Gurevich integrated Prema from 1982 to 1985, period in which participated of the recording of the records "I Sing to the fondness" (1982), "A common man" (1984), "How generous you are, my earth" (1985) and "Piero 20 years" (1989). Then, from 1985 to 1987, he was part of the group of David Lebon, the guitarist and singer that had begun the decade in the summit of the popularity of the Argentinean rock as substantial part of the group Seru led by Charly García. Accompanying Lebon, Gurevich registered three albums, the originals "And if of something it serves" (1986) and 7*7(1987) and the recompilation "you Come unfastened rock’n’roll" (1989). In that tract of his career he debuted as an author, sharing with Lebon the creation of the topic "I want to give You love." In 1987 and 1988, Gurevich was added to the group MPA, remarkable conjunction of young talents interested in the folklore that the Chango summed up Farías Gómez. From the participation of Gurevich in that group experience, that Peteco Carabajal, Hyacinth Stone, Verónica Condomí and Ruben “Mono” Izarrualde also participated, was a registration, the album "before the rooster sings" (1987). And then he crossed with Gieco. There the history that is still in the present time, began. Gurevich participated of all the albums that Gieco summed up from 1988: "Live" next to Pete Seeger (1990), "Treasure-the children first" (in benefit of Unicef, 1989) "Messages of the soul" (1992), "Unpluged" (1995), "20 years of fight" (in homage to the Mothers of May Square,), "The history this" (collection of unpublished, 1998), "Orozco" (1997), "Heredia-Gieco" (1999), "had left double" (2000) and "rural Bandits" (2001). He also had from then on a protagonist place in all Gieco¨s shows, as much in the Argentina as in the exterior. Some of the tours carried out by Gurevich like main support of Gieco¨s band have been in Germany, United States, Japan, Spain, France, Israel, Mexico, Ecuador England, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay. Amid so much work with Gieco, Gurevich has participated as guest in several records of Argentinean musicians as "Playing the sky" and "you Color pure" of Nito Mestre, "Suns" of Marilina Ross, "to sing I have been born" and "every day a little" of Abel Pintos, Popular Histories and Erasing boundaries of Peteco Carabajal. As composer he also shared the responsibility of topics with Miguel Cantilo,Raly Barrionuevo,Julia Zenko,Teresa Parodi and Nito Mestre among others. In the outburst of the 80¨s he sat down to the piano, the position that he feels better. In this way he began to win a place among the most important contemporary Argentinean musicians, a position that today, nobody can deny him.
