About Me

I started making music in 1999 and have made many tracks. I have a large music taste which helps with the production of a variety of styles. My music is a mixture of electronica genres and is produced on my trusty PC and keyboard. But can include live samples written and/or performed by friends. I love the music of video games (especially the excellent music of DAVE WHITTAKER and ROB HUBBARD, whose tracks turned up in many games and on many formats during my childhood), 70..s Dub Reggae (KING TUBBY, LEE SCRATCH PERRY, KEITH HUDSON) as well as the likes of DAVID BOWIE, DAVID BYRNE, Badly Drawn Boy, The Cocteau Twins, DJ SHADOW, HERBALISER, DJ KRUSH, BRIAN ENO, FUNKI PORCINI, RAY KEITH, DILLINGA, APHRODITE, DJ FOOD, THE ORB, KRAFTWERK, ORBITAL, TRICKY, MASSIVE ATTACK, SCIENTIST, PORTISHEAD, BJORK, NIGHTMARES ON WAX, RONI SIZE, PESHAY, LEFTFIELD, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, bands like THE CURE, TALKING HEADS, THE SMITHS and JOY DIVISION, contemporary composers like MICHAEL NYMAN, DANNY ELFMAN and ANGELO BADALMENTI, as well as a selection of eighties electronic pop including THE PET SHOP BOYS and NEW ORDER. I have been DJ LINK for over 8 years, when I registered with BandName dot com. I love Nintendo and I love Zelda games and back in 1999 a search on that name would get you nothing but lists of sites with 'links' to to 'DJs'! Hence why I chose it. Today though it is a popular name, especially here at MySpace - So I might need to change it. Back then I also set up The DJ LINK DomaiN website to help host not only my music but the music and art of my friends and family. This site has grown and grown over the years to incorporate many areas of my interest.

Influences: 80's Video Games, Angelo Badalamenti, DJ Shadow, Joy Division, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys and Talking Heads. PLUS MANY MANY more that I love and would have acted as an influence.
Sounds Like: my stuff to me, sometimes dancey, often moody and occasionally optimistic. Old hardware sounds are great, drums are important and loud in the mix, bass too and I love creating pensive melodies.
