recrux records’ goal is to generate success for artists we believe have something of intense value to offer the world.

History
recrux records is an offshoot of the CRUX Artist Collective. The CRUX has existed for five years, founded by a passionately talented group of visionaries: Terry, Christine Fulton, Dave Sutherland, and Weston Thomson.
A collective in the purest sense, the CRUX thrives as the dominant alternative art venue in Chico, CA. The space offers diversity via art, performance, music, interactive community derived projects (48x48, Chico Mind Map), and more often than not, a fusion of some or all of these elements.
To the surprise of some, the CRUX not only survived the passing of the torch to new directors Ty Gorton, Max Infeld, and Sean Cummins in July of 2007, it has increased the scope of its impact on the community. Leveraging established events like the Emcee Battle, REAL-Open Mic, Open Entry Art Shows, performances, and intense music showcases, the venue is able to fund FREE projects that challenge people to engage the creative process in new ways.
The CRUX is also comprised of Studio Members, typically visual artists who pay a monthly rent and gain access to the resources and space, as well as having a voice in the future of the space if they so choose. Because the CRUX is a collective, there is an extremely open approach to ideas and participation. A motivated individual can come in with an exciting idea, and make it reality; this is something the Co-directors encourage. It is exactly this kind of organic flexibility that enables the CRUX to remain fresh, consistently pushing the boundaries of art’s role in day to day life.
recrux records will employ many of the same ideas that has maintained the CRUX Artist Collective for half a decade. However, the music industry is a different beast, which requires highly specialized skill sets and knowledge. This is why specific individuals have taken on key roles in the organization. Each person involved brings a high level of skill and experience to their area of responsibility.
With the CRUX Artist Collective as a rock solid foundation, recrux records looks to the future with great enthusiasm.
