Born Markia Harper was born on the Westside of Chicago. At a fairly young age, “Kia†as well as family members and friends, noticed that she had the ability to sing above the average of a normal child her age. She attended A. N. Pritizker elementary school in which by the age of 10 she was performing in talent shows, school plays, and assemblies. Once she graduated, she soon transitioned to Lane Tech College Prep High School where her talents strengthened and she made a name for herself within the four year duration, surrounded by her peers and teachers. Although she was known for her drawing and hair- braiding she focused more on her vocals. Highly influenced by Brian Mcknight, Boys II Men and Beyonce’ because of their amazing voices, “Kia†strived to gain more positive attention towards making herself a household name. In this institution, she joined Gospel Choir, singing to show respect for her main and spiritual influence, God. “Kia†sang her way through many talent shows and after school events in her high school. For a moment, she hesitated on her singing and began to do more writing. Appearing just as successful with this new found talent, “Kia†was a complete attraction. It is a proven fact that in the future “Verses†plans on extending her work to others in hopes to become something behind the scenes such as a producer or ghost writer. “Kia†is continuing her education and working hard to make a living. But as for her hopes concerning the future before her, she is continuing to make herself respectfully known by locals.
