Ph.D., Ass. Miglena Tzenova - Maggie is a musician with projects in Bulgaria and Europe.
She records the vocals for 10 movies: ‘Vrabtzite prez oktomvri’ /Sparrows in October/; ‘Bez semeina prilika’ /With no family resemblance/; ‘Shest osem edno’ /Six eight one/; 'Istinata za Orfei' /'The trouth about Orpheus'/; ‘Kartini Bulgaria’ /Pictures of Bulgaria/; ‘Ogun i plam’ /Fire and flame/; Bulgarskiat polet’ /The Bulgarian flight/; and the Bulgarian versions of ‘Brother bear’; ‘Steward little’; ‘Santa Clause against the Snowman’. She records for labels in Germany and Brazil.
Miglena works also in the fields of Bulgarian Opera Theatre, Peking opera and traditional eastern forms of opera. Recently she explores the ways of teaching the piano to students with cochlear implant – by her own practical pedagogical experience, often proclaimed in scientific reports and articles.
Miglena Tzenova is a co-author of the book ‘Bulgarian music theater. Theatres, groups, casts. 1890-2001. Opera, ballet, operetta, musical.’ She publicizes over than 55 articles, reports, reviews and lectures.
She works for the Institute of Art Studies, attached to the Bulgarian Academy of Science and also in the music laboratory "Ph.D.".
The main purpose of the music lab is to show the broad horizons of music to young talents. She teaches pop singing, the piano, theory of music, etc. Many of her promising students and people, who have consultations with her have a present music career in bands like Pro.feel, Balkandji, Response, Sameyra, No Rejection, Virus, Hypercube, Yuvigi, Elinor, between them are the soloists Toma Zdravkov, Di-do, Yoana Uzunova and many others.
Miglena Tzenova has made several music projects in China (2003). She has been invited 3 times to Vietnam(2004-2006) as a guest-singer in "Super Model Vietnam 2004" (Ho Chi Minh City) and "Friendship Melody" (Hanoi, 2004) and as an instructor on vocal technique in the TV music academies Ngôi sao tiếng hát truyá»n hình or Project Superstar, similar to Star Academy (2005) and Music Idol (2006).
She is a winner of the prize ‘Young scientist of the year’ (2006) for her contributions to the musicology and her research studies on the Bulgarian music theatre. Miglena Tzenova is awarded with many other prizes such as for best song (‘Save me from love’, 2004) and best cover (‘Yes’, 2004) and for best pianist and model.
