About Me
What do you get when you put together a country music prodigy and a legacy of the true roots of rock-a-billy? The answer is simple: Camp Burnette. Shawn Camp and Billy Burnette have come together to fuse their individual styles into a musical outpouring that is at once retro and fresh, pure and innovative. With Shawn’s country music heritage and Billy’s ties to the very beginnings of Rock and Roll, their sound makes for a unique combination of truly American music. The upbeat rockabilly guitar and steady bass line will make you tap your foot, roll down the windows, and crank it up!
As a performer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Shawn is known for his bluegrass, honky tonk, folk, and roots rock music. Camp has written songs that have appeared on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs charts such as, “Would You Go with Me" by Josh Turner, which peaked at No. 1, and "Nobody But Me" by Blake Shelton, which peaked at No. 4. Camp also co-wrote Turner's 2007 single "Firecracker". Billboard Magazine ranked him 10 on their 2006 list of Hot Country Songwriters. Josh Turner isn’t the only one who has received hit songs from Camp. He’s written No.1 hits for Garth Brooks (“Two Pina Coladasâ€) and Brooks & Dunn (“How Long Goneâ€).
Nominated for “Best New Male Vocalist†by the Academy of Country Music, Billy Burnette is equally comfortable on either the Country or Rock ‘n Roll stage. Born the son of rock-a-billy pioneer, Dorsey Burnette, who influenced everyone from Elvis Presley to the Beatles, it was only natural for Billy to make his mark in music. At the ripe young age of seven, Billy secured his first record deal with Dot Records. By the time he was eleven, Billy was touring the world with Brenda Lee. Many years later in 1987, Billy was asked to join the world’s biggest rock band, Fleetwood Mac and was a member of the band for 10 years! Recently Billy has been the lead guitar player for Bob Dylan on his Australian tour and is currently the lead guitar player in John Fogerty’s Band. Billy has written hits for benchmark artists such as, Fleetwood Mac, Bette Midler, Rod Stewart, Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, Cher, and Faith Hill to name a few.
