Halford Kaanohilani Matthews was 43 years old old when he passed away on February 25th, 2008. He loved life and was a blessing to know and be around. Hal and his lovely wife Tara truly celebrated life and the blessing of being in love. These are Hal's own words in his "About Me" section of his page.
"If you haven't guessed I'm a Hawaiian Redneck with a slight attitude. Music/Guitars was my life, teaching, traveling,playing and being totally excessive. Playing with and learning from some of the greatest musician's in the Universe was cool. but things have changed. After beating cancer twice, Heavenly Father brought to me my other half (Tara) and as time has passed by, we have managed to collectivly create five of the most incredibly cool-minded individuals on the face of the planet. Life is Awesome." Hal was a man of great talent but perhaps his greatest talent of all was the man he became. The loving husband, best friend, soul mate to his beautiful wife, Tara. My goodness, those two were crazy in love!!! The always patient, kind hearted, understanding, loving, and devoted father to his five beautiful children, or the always pleasant, fun-loving, and generous friend he was to so many. This page is a memorial to Hal and the person he was. He will ALWAYS be loved and NEVER forgotten!..
